I've said 20 million from the start and I'm sticking to it:D
If I was a betting man my money would be on the fee (if in fact we do sell him) being nearer to £15M than £20M. We shall see (although tbf the banker bet would be on an undisclosed fee!)

Sky sports saying we've turned down a second bid of £10m, saying we want between £12m to £15m.

I’ll look out for the next thread and loads of posts on it.

Arms sales is firmly politics category. Political threads on NSC are usually disappointingly split between Tory or Labour bashing. They are the political threads which often have the most (repetitive) posts. Most politically motivated posters here are simply only interested in proving a point on why their selected party/leader is so much better or more likely why the other lot are not. It is not particularly constructive and most people are not interested in posting on them.

Newcastle being owned by a murderous regime that we happen to send loads of arms to is a football matter to a lot of people. It is the issue which has crossed over into the reason this board exists, supporting the Albion and in a wider context, protecting the game we love. It doesn't mean anyone will necessarily want to argue outside of those issues.

Only 2 reasons we should sell. Either Dan Burn is screaming to leave or they offer us a well inflated amount, & so far I dont see either of those things happening. No point in selling for £10m, come back with £15-20m and maybe we'd consider it.

I don’t disagree, but when we start properly vilifying individuals for their choice to work for a football club, I can’t help feel there’s a complete sense of detachment of what say our trade delegations, defence ministry etc. etc. are doing compared to managing a football team or kicking a ball about. Dragging them over hot coals without actually realising we’re all collectively culpable for arming a murderous regime - I’m torn by the proportionality of it to be honest. I don’t give them a pass for their choice, but neither I’m I going to stand on some moral high ground denigrating their choice. I’m conflicted by the whole thing because at the end of the day our country profits from selling arms to them - football, it’s almost like, so ****ing what!?

pretty sure Tony Blooms negotiation tactics will be- tell us what you will pay- I will tell you once you have met the price. We will not have said he is going to cost £xx million, it will be for Newcastle to keep raising the offer

Didn't arsenal say it was one of the hardest deals they had done to get White as they simply didnt know what the release price was, so they had no idea what to offer

Thing is, I get (to a point) the barcodes not wanting to be rinsed by clubs for their players. But, at the same time, £10m (if that's what it was) for Burn is laughable! From anyone, regardless of if they are the richest club in the world or not.

Burn doesn't need to be sold and, while I think he will go, I'd like him to stick around – he's become a proper fan's favourite!

What I find amazing, odd, hypocritical maybe, is that there seems to be very little protest, complaint or criticism that we’ve potentially sold £20bn worth of arms and munitions to them since they started bombing Yemen in 2015, yet buy a football club and choose the manage them and it’s time to take them to task! I’m a bit more worried about our continued arming of their regime, for this country’s profit than who manages or plays for Newcastle United. Let’s get things in perspective.

This happens to be a (Brighton mainly) football forum though, head over to Guns 'N' Ammo Chat for discussions on ethical arms dealing.

Does Burn only go if we find a replacement?

I suspect not. I think Dan will go if he wants to go and they meet our asking price (based on no knowledge whatsoever, I would guess at c £15M) and they will pay it if they want him. I think there's a number of ways we could cover Dan's loss.

I'd still like him to stay but it really should be his call, if our valuation is met.

Great, glad you have no issue over Newcastle’s ownership etc as you’re not bothered by arms dealing either. That’s exactly what I’m talking about.

I have issue with both, however, in recent news, the Saudis bought NUFC. Arms deals are an older and ongoing issue, not involving any ethical decision to be made by footballers, football managers or football supporters about which club badge they will be kissing this season.

An ethical decision based on a murderous regime but with no interest in where their weapons are from, that presumably help with the murdering? I can see why Howe and others will join them if they can equally turn glaring contradictions on and off at will.
