With our new signings it is very doubtful if Kayal will make the 25 and March is by far the worst of the 4 wide men we have. and I wouldnt expect to see him figure many times only perhaps as a late impact sub.

It is absolutely certain Kayal will make our 25. March will almost certainly start the first game.

Other than that - excellent post. .

I agree we will sign a 4th CB, but NOT 4th choice... there is no way we are going to say to Burn (for example)... "please join us as 4th choice CB"... we will say (and mean)... "if you are good enough, you will be picked, we expect you to compete with the CB's already here"...

I think that K Gull is being more realistic about the situation.obviously telling a man he is 4th choice as cover will only happen if we sign an old out of contract player, other than that CH will let them think they have a chance to make the team.

WTF?

Unless we sign ANOTHER centre midfielder out of the blue, there is literally NO chance that Kayal won't make the 25!

March is by far the worst of the 4 wide men we have. and I wouldnt expect to see him figure many times only perhaps as a late impact sub.

'by far the worst' is a matter of opinion. He's different, and whilst probably offering the least attacking threat of the four, is excellent in other areas. He'll play plenty of games.

wingers -

As things stand we have a guy who lit up the Dutch league which means very little until proven otherwise in the Prem , Isquirdo who something odd is happening at the moment (45 mins in world cup and not featured for us at all since) + Knocky who for large parts last season struggled to impose himself (even hough I thought he had an ok season).

March can figure in this but it is down to him. The new contract we gave him suggests the club feels the same.

BG really has had a long standing agenda of Kayal not being good enough, and now I see March has also been moved into this category.

Just support them all BG, it really is quite straight forward, they are both bloody good players and more than good enough for our 25.

Madness. Are you saying Norwood or Towell or Normann will take Kayal's place in the 25 ? If not, we'll need to sign someone as there isn't anyone else.

In literally every position, other than GK, which is understandably a genuine backup situation.

Suttner, Bong & Bernardo.
Bruno & Schelotto.
Stephens, Propper, Kayal, Gross & Bissouma.
Knockaert, Jahanbahksh, Izquierdo & March.
Murray, Locadia, Andone & Hemed.

All of these are either of equal standard, or it's marginal one way or another.

Our entire squad has fantastic depth, with the whole point being that if someone is out - over a long term, not for a single game here or there - we aren't noticeably weaker. Everyone pushes everyone else, because you know if you play poorly, there's a guy waiting to step into your shoes who might not give you another a chance that season. This is evidenced by the fact you will find a champion of each and every one of those players on NSC, and arguments about who is better than another. It's also evidenced by the fact that Barber, Hughton and Winstanley have stated this publicly on multiple occasions.

Answer me this - if you're right, and we only want to sign an 'old head' - a John Terry, Seb Bassong, James Collins, Gary Cahill, Robert Huth - all of whom you've suggested at one point or another - do you genuinely think that if Dunk or Duffy snapped an ACL in training, we'd be happy with them as a replacement for an entire season?

Follow up question - when 99% of people on this thread are saying you're wrong, and showing you why, does it enter your head that you might be wrong? Are you constantly on the wind-up, enjoying fishing for bites, or are you actually so stubborn that you can't even envisage a world where you aren't correct about something?

I'm genuinely interested.

There is no definitive right or wrong despite what many say and like to think it is all about individual opinion which is why some managers succeed and some fail.

Not quite as Bong Sutner are specialist left backs Bruno and Schelotto are specialist right backs. the only common competition is Bernardo. who again prefers left back out of choice. Hemed is the example of 4th choice who is not really competing for a spot unless injury and suspension occur.

So like now then... when hemed is our only currently fit striker... its clear we need a 4th quality CB. The current striker fitness scenario could soon happen in other positions.

Utterly arrogant and ignorant rubbish. PROOF: I am better than Messi & Ronaldo combined. It's my individual opinion. But according to you, that is not definitively wrong. If that's the world you live in, I suppose that answers my second question.

I'll repeat my first question, since it's notable that you chose not to answer it.

Do you genuinely think that if Dunk or Duffy snapped an ACL in training, we'd be happy with "an old head" like Robert Huth as a replacement for an entire season?

We have signed what appear to be better players and if we go for any loans I think it will be a CM to complement Bissouma and push Stephens and Propper. Just to set the record straight I believe that both March and Kayal are adequate as 4th choicer but neither will be pushing for a start with a fully fit squad.

1 CB BG that's all we are interested in...

Kayal is more than good enough to push Propper, Stephens and Bissouma.

Its a 4 I am very happy with.

We wont get any loans in.

Why would we need someone to replace him? In BG's view there is no need to have four centre-backs to cover two places, so why would we need four centre midfielders? :dunce:

Perhaps, in BG's own words, "to complement Bissouma and push Stephens and Propper"? Because we need someone to complement and push our midfielders, but not our defenders. :ffsparr:

If we don’t get him I guess we will end up keeping Norwood for the home grown quota and also not loaning our Ben White until January.

Would leave us with needing to loan out Percy/ selling towell.

I'd rather we got shafted 8-10 Mil for Moore than bought a cheapo that we know is not anywhere near good enough for this league.
We've already done that with Steele.

But it's not my money.
I expect Moore deal to get done.

Goodness me, that's reaches a new level, even for you.

Very doubtful ??? Kayal is nailed on for the 25 (unless we've got a £10m+ CM signing on the way to Lancing this morning). He could easily end up playing a full part this season if we get an injury or two - we were very lucky last season. You also know that if he does get starts, and does well, he'll keep the shirt.

March is (IMO) currently the weakest of our 3 (Ali J not included yet as not seen enough of him yet) wide men going forward (I think mainly due to a loss of confidence) but he's very good defensively, so will get plenty of game-time depending on the situation match-by-match and CH's tactics. We were chatting in the stand on Friday about how we could potentially even see Solly as a LB at some point in his career.

I still feel as though he hasn't been the same player since that injury against Derby a couple of seasons ago.

March has been overrated for quite some time, he's been overtaken by the quality in the squad. He still has a role to play, because players develop at different times and he's shown more than enough potential for years and years. If he kicks on, he could be quite a player but as it stands, he's going to be a more active version of Skalak. While Alireza and Izquierdo are not up to speed, he's got his chance to stake a claim.
