Damaged phone screen - Can it be mended?

Today, I fell over with my phone in my pocket and subsequently cracked the screen.
This is a new phone, which is on contract.

Is it possible to get phone screens mended?

You should just be able to buy a replica phone cover from eBay for about a fiver.

Same thing happened to me. You can get the screen replaced, which is what I did.

My friend cracked his and it cost him £80 for repair!!
