But we are not getting our DS or U21s into our team. We have invested a lot of money in this area and one would hope it will produce. we had a better youth product Dunk. Elphick, Cook etc when we did not invest money.

He actually had a reasonable loan period last season too unfortunately cut short by injury. Hopefully he gets a good run of games and stays fit to bring him back in around the first team. He is a good prospect but needs experience

With the level we are now at I think the pathway to the first XI is very much U21 > Loan to a lower div (L1/L2) > first XI squad. We need to see they can do it in "proper" football before chucking them in to the championship.

Sadly the U21s finished 2nd bottom of the basement division last year.

This suggests they are not ready to join a Championship side going for promotion.

We can exempt Hambo and Harper from this assessment as they had bad injuries most of last season, and also Bjordal looks good.

New signings Forbes, Hall and Adekugbe may also get a chance later in the season.

Why? He's being loaned to League 2. Which suggests he isn't ready to play 2 divisions higher yet.

He is currently the 4th best CB in the club, with two of the others in front of him injured, one questionable for the start of the season. Regardless of whether we sign someone, we need 4.

Physically Dallison looks stronger and looked pacier than Hall, and it remains to be seen how the latter develops.

Dallison has obviously proved himself sufficiently to earn a 2 year deal, and when I've watched, has been a standout for the U21s.

I therefore do not see how missing out on cup games and a higher level of training, until we at least have 4 capable fit players is to our advantage.

A loan after Christmas would have been more sensible IMO.

Has Steven Taylor released by Newcastle got a new club yet? He is well known to CH.

No, he hasn't.

Probably because he's injury prone, and has failed to play more than 12 games in any of the last three seasons.

And shit.

Having chatted recently with someone who worked closely with him at Crawley last season, I have to agree with this. He said he was 'different class' at times, and it was a huge blow to the squad when he picked up the injury.

With Goldson not fit for the 2 matches on Saturday, did we let Dallison out on loan too early ?

Seems a little strange to loan him out, and then have to convert Bruno into a Centre Back because we are so lacking in central defenders.

If you're only thinking about us, then yes, it does seem a bit soon to loan him out. But looking at the bigger picture, I'm sure Cambridge want him as soon as possible, he'd probably want to get it done as early as possible so he can settled well in advance of the season starting, etc. Besides, what does it really matter if Bruno plays at centre back in a friendly? It'll be sorted before the season starts.
