I thought Palace played reasonable football under Pulis. Definitely not hoofball.

This and he is a good tactician unlike our Finnish friend.

Pulis style is not appealing unless Div 1, 1950's slugathons is your favourite pudding. However, no doubt he could get us into the prem and probably keep us there for a while. Whether or not the fans and the board would eventually tire of all the probable criticism and want to see some so called stylish play is another matter.
Personally I loved the old kick it up front, hard tackling, slugging, bad boy image I first started watching in the early 70's so I m ok with it. Problem is that his type of football doesn't fit in with our wimpy, clean, family day out type of football.
Also he takes no crap, it's his way or no way. With success under his belt we could we see the exit of both B&B with some on here would probably regret.
TB needs to think if we as a club really have the balls to make the changes both on and off the pitch to get us promoted.
From what I have seen, I don't think do but hope I'm wrong.

He's a bit like Big Sam, a much better manager than people realise, because he's never had the budget of a big club and yet done well everywhere.

he had the similar budget to all the other premiership sides and spent more than any other team than Chelsea and Man city during his tenure as manager.

and for this reason, he'll never take the job. he left Palace because they wouldnt release the funds, sign his targets, while having Zaha imposed on him. think he'll come here to FFP adherance and Burke's database?

Definitely made sure Bolasie was getting the ball to run at defenders. They played quick attacking football, I think he was utilising player strengths.

Who are we really expecting to attract, given the squad, the recruitment set up, our record of three managers in three seasons and the lack of money in the club nobody sensible is now going to come here and blight there CV. The executive have placed the club in a very difficult place with such short sightedness and poor strategy for progressing the club.

This deal could work for both sides. I think the club are at the point where they want Sami to jump, this would save them money. Pulis maybe wants to get back into management and there are no jobs around at the moment. Maybe the club would offer him a short term contract to the end of the season, as let's face it, a Premiership club will want his services at some stage. It depends what price the club or fans put on staying in this league. The problem runs deep at the moment and changing the manager is not going to fix it any time soon, and I do not think many managers would be able to stop us going down this season. if having a manager like Pulis for the time being who has the experience of keeping clubs punching above their weight, can only be a positive move. The board have left this to late and it's having an effect on the players and the fans.

Pulis is an underrated tactician who does whatever it takes to make his teams win. At Stoke that meant long balls, at Palace it meant using the skills of Bolasie.

But he won't come here because he won't work with someone like Burke. He left Palace because he didn't like the recruitment set-up.

Also he lives in Bournemouth and that drive is an absolute nightmare.

"Heated exchange"? Doubt it. FWIW I don't think Pulis would want the job. Nor would he be suited to it. I feel he'd undo much of the work that was set-up by Poyet & co and it'd prove counter productive in the long term in regards to the academy etc.

Wouldnt say no, and I really wouldnt put it past TB to make the decision to bring him in. It would mean a step back from player recruitment for Burke though.

A total change is what we need right now and we would certainly get that with Pulis. But do you wait, or sack Sami and go for him now before someone else goes for him ? Would he hold out for a job which might not happen ?

One thing is for sure, if a manager wants to prove themselves in a difficult situation then this is certainly the job for them. Pulis went to Palace when they were near certainties to be relegated and he saved them, so he is certainly up for a challenge - but does he want to take a challenge in the Championship ? Does TB want to change the structure mid-season ? Does TB want to take a risk ?

I think the team we currently have would be more suited to the Pulis style of play which has evolved from the old "Hoofball" too as it has changed completely since the Poyet era, it could be a win-win scenario for us IF the board are prepared to change and if anything take a bit of a step back.

The conclusion was that Pulis and Burke would clash from minute one and the only way the former would come here is if the latter left. There would obviously be ways round the final point such as a rented place here for a weekly or couple of days commute. Would add to cost but is perfectly doable. My butcher lives in Dorset but runs a shop on Church Road.

He basically has a history of overpaying for journeyman pro's that he tries to get a last hurrah out of. Shawcross is about the only Stoke player bought through from the academy**. His spending at Stoke with no real profit on selling anybody on is astonishing for what little he achieved. He never developed the playing style of Stoke despite the fortunes the chairman invested. It was a surprise he lasted as long as he did.

He left Palace not because of any recruitment set up, he left because Parish told him he didn't have the money to bring in who he wanted to bring in. So he stropped off, like he did in his first stint at Stoke.

I can see him ditching burke if somelike pullis is interested. He should ditch burke regardless in my opinion his performance is as woeful as his recruits.
