Thinking of buying a black Pure with the ChargePAK.

Anyone got this model and if so what is it like, also any views on battery / mains DAB radios.

Don't know about the charge pak, though I have heard a couple of stories about them overheating- you'll have to google it. I have got an older portable DAB and it really eats batteries- 6 size c in no time, so i tend to stick to running it off the mains. I wouldn't swap it back for a non DAB though!! Well, the reception is still terrible with the things.

Has the model got a PROPER aerial ? That's what you need, not the "head phones act as an aerial" bollocks

Yes it has and I have bought one.

I'm very happy with my PURE PocketDAB 2000.

There's a limited range of stations available out here in the wilds. And I tend to use it in FM/mono mode for things like Radio Four.

But it works very satisfactorily in DAB mode on trips to places like London. And the Record feature is worth having for catching up with stuff that there isn't time to listen to live.

Hope you bought the Chargepak or you'll be in the poorhouse paying for batteries.....

Yes I did, strangely enough the company are based near Henfield.

Ive got a Goodmans DAB in my car. Great for short distances, but there are so many areas without a strong DAB signal it is a pain as the radio continually retunes or reverts back to FM

I need a new walkman one but with aerial fitted inside not relying on the headphone cord to do all the work, any recommendations?

I have a Black Pure One with Chargepak and use it all the time. Very pleased with it.

Sounds very promising as that is what I ordered

DAB sucks- over compressed and limited bandwidth- yuk, poo, bollox

Only on the UKs arseways implementation of it. System isn't faulty, the BBC and Emap & co pushing 11 stations in to the space of 8 are.

Pure Evoke 1XT here, has the best sound of any of the mono "kitchen" sets I've heard. Doesn't do FM/AM, but all that loses me is BBC Radio 4 & 5, and I can get them on satellite anyway...
