Is it pretty good across the country now?

I see from the pretty graphic here suggests it's pretty good in most parts of England anyway.

What's it like around the home counties? Any really bad spots?

Everywhere except Sussex in my experience. I drive all over the country and there are occasional black spots but Sussex is dreadful.

Agreed. Can't get half the stations I'd like in Burgess Hill. Then again, most of the time my mobile phone has no signal either at home.

Bexhill
Bexhill is useless in the whole of the town area, so I use Internet radio on a Pioneer system I have. 1000's of stations from all round the world, including Goon Show radio from Australia. Continuous Goon Shows from the 50's and 60's

I find its really good from Horsham going north with the london channels in the car and then when you get past burgess hill going south it picks up the southern channels but the bit between Horsham and burgess hill is very hit and miss.

It's fine in SBS, in fact - On our journey back to West Wales, there's only 1 cut out for literally a couple of seconds the other side of Worthing for Radio 5
