So how does a 'twitter feed' work then? What is it even?

Why move anything from a perfectly workable thread? Has Bozza got plans to shuffle us off of the Big Board?

I'm EASILY confused.

We'll be expanding our 'empire'. Nothing will change here.

I follow 20+ various cycling twitter accounts.
As they 'post' on twitter (tweet) it instantly appears on my home page.

I then post about 1 in 20 of those here.

Now if I set up a 'Geeks of NSC' Twitter account, we'll be able to collate all of the cycling twitter accounts, we all follow, into one place available to all.
Although it would seem I need to try and remember my googlemail e-mail address to make it happen, as my current e-mail address won't support 2 accounts.

I'm not really a tweeter.
But twitter does come in handy for following specific things, such as PED's, or Lance's revelations.
Away from cycling and The Albion there's probably less than 10 accounts I'm interested in.
I don't see the point of knowing when Nooney's off to Nandos, employing an interpreter for KLL, or saying 'great game today Calde'.

But following Man City's latest accounts through Sporting Intelligence today, has been eye catching, esp when eclectically mixed with History Pics.

I thought you click 'follow' to the link on my signature, and then I (NSC Cycling Geeks) follows you and bingo everything that pops up on NSC geeks, appears on your timeline.

If I'm wrong then so is my understanding of Twitter.

I am terribly sorry to jump into this thread for my own ends but I was hoping that some of you "Geeks" may be able to advise on a bike I am looking at. Unfortunately my team Festina replica from 1998 has finally given up the ghost and needs pretty much an entire new group set, a new seat post (which has seemed to have corroded into the frame) and worst of all new handle bar tape! I was looking at getting something around the £500 mark (entry level at best I know) - primarily for commuting about 10 miles into work but also the occasional longer ride.

I have seen the Forme Longcliffe 2.0 2013 version for £499 http://www.rutlandcycling.com/153513/products/forme-longcliffe-2-0-2013-road-bike.aspx which looks pretty decent although I have no idea if the RRP of nearly £1000 is realistic.

I have also had a look at Planet X - anyone know anything about those bikes. They seem good value for money.
Or I have found a site called Ribble where you can customise your bike with upgrades and have pretty much any group set you want - does anyone know anything about this site? - bike radar seem to like it.

Planet X is a great site with excellent frames, bikes, components, and Ribble is also well thought of.

Having said that, the bike you are looking at looks a steal at £500! The 105 groupset itself is worth over £200, and other components sound good too. I haven't heard of Forme, but if you can try one out, do so. It's a good looking bike, and that is some deal, even if the frame isn't magnificent.

Buy, buy, buy! Go for it, and tell us how it is.

Planet X and most definitely Ribble have very good reputations, but as we always say there's substitute for trying before you buy.

Assuming your Sutton is the Surrey version I'd strongly advise having a look around Pearson's.
As you say £500 is pretty much entry level, although that bench mark maybe heading towards £600.
But with Spech & Trek and perhaps a Felt in store there may well be something (last years maybe) you can pick up.

I'd be amazed if you couldn't find THE bike, or one you really wanted to save for in one of those shops.
Another favourite maxim is 'buy the bike you luuurve', don't compromise, you'll ride that bike so much more than the bike you just liked.

As for the Forme, if anyone paid £1000 for that, they clearly didn't have a collection of sad men on hand to advise them.

First of all some general advice. DO NOT BUY A BIKE OFF THE INTERNET. Get down to your local bike shop and ride as many different bikes as you can to get an idea what you are comparing. If you have not walked in to every bike shop within a five mile radius of your house you are not spending enough time over this decision.

On to the bikes you are looking at here, that Forme looks like a £500 bike to me. Aluminium frame, carbon fork with alloy steerer, bottom of the range shifters, One23 finishing kit (who?), FSA chainset in black, pretty decent wheels though for a £500 bike. Frame looks horrible though, and the close ups on the welds I've seen in various reviews are just plain ugly. Not for me, I think you can get better at that price point.

Planet X are supposed to be good value, and their entry level road bike £599 looks pretty decent and looks like it's components have been thought through a little better than the Forme. As I said at the beginning though you need to try it, before you buy it, and unless you are willing to travel to South Yorkshire, that rather takes that option out of the window.

Ribble again are very reputable. But the same applies if you cannot try it, do not buy it.

It's not a 105 groupset.
The bike is a complete mix of 105, Tiagra, & mircoshift Bona and centos

Calm down Pogue, it is a 105 rear mech, not 105 groupset. The rest is Microshift, which I have heard a few good things about in recent years, but it certainly is not 105 standard yet.
