A belated :birthday: geeks.

Finally, I have nice weather for my day off tomorrow, nothing new there #thanksclimatechange but it'll be nice weather without a gale force wind from the west.

So for the first time, in a long time, I can actually come over to lesser Sussex and not fight a 20mph block headwind home.

I hope you've looked after the place for me.

There is still a mini pond on the approach to Col Du Annington I expect!

unclipped with feet as high as possible was the general consensus tactic through it on Sunday...

Thanks.

The normal route would be 'Beacon & Bear' via Faulking although I'm trying to mix it up a little by heading north.

Although currently I'm struggling to pick a route from the Wineham area to come down on top of Ditchling.
I don't really want to ride through B/Hill or A-road round.

Any help?

Wineham Lane then turn East into Bob Lane, South down to Twineham on Bolney Chapel Rd, East onto Hickstead Lane, go over the A23, then first right down Pookbourne Lane, right then left down Langton Lane will bring you out onto the Albourne Road, where you can head East through Hurstpierpoint, Hassocks to get you to Ditchling.

Alternatively you can go further north after Wineham, crossing the A272 onto Spronkett's Lane, then head east along Cross Colwood Lane, through Bolney and cross the A23 on Broxmead Lane, you can then head south down Pickwell Lane then Bishopstone Lane, then Danworth Lane will still bring you into Hurstpierpoint - I did this route the other week, and it's quite nice and quiet.

Even further north you can head all the way up to Warninglid and pick up Broxmead Lane at Slough Green.

Well, my route advice went down well then....:hilton:

I have been busy, my day off isn't until tomorrow and between work and a quick ride I've only had time to get stuck into some 'rosy speccers'.

Anyway without looking at the route, no it didn't go down well!!
I was wondering if I could come down on top of Ditchling thereby missing the HPP/Hassocks section.
But do it in such a way I miss Burgess Hill too.

I know I don't want much, do I

You can do it, but you're going to have to go as far north as Warninglid, Sloughgreen Lane, Staplefield Rd, Hanlye Lane, then head through Lindfield and pick up Slugwash lane that will take you through Wivelsfield bypassing BH.

World's End? Things aren't that bad are they, surely?

Thanks, now that the kids have finally settled into stuff they're not banned from, I can have a look.

It would seem I asking for the impossible, thanks for trying.

I guess I'm going to have to bite the bullet, but take a northern route round BH.
I'll have to link the A273 to Janes Lane so I can come down the B2112.

So World's End it is, thanks again.

Apologies if I've missed it, will there be any geeks fantasy cycling this year?

Universe's end shurely?
Well I made it back.

I was a little apprehensive about getting the right route round B/Hill, so unsurprisingly I took one wrong turn.

Having gone back and turned left I had just enough time to think "oh fook where am I", just as a sign for 'World's End' appeared.
I was very happy to see I'd ridden so far!!

Top stuff.

I'll be interested to see how the road surfaces hold up with all this rain. Pot hole city soon I expect.

I have my 28's on and it's lovely. I really don't know why I don't ride them 365 days of the year.

I think I can already answer that - very badly.

I've not done my 10 mile TT for quite a while, or ridden in that, easterly, direction.
But obviously it's a section of road I know really well.

Riding it this week has been scary stuff.
There's at least 6 new proper wheel braking holes in one 1/2 mile section.
They definitely weren't there Oct/Nov time.
If it gets proper cold soon, as well, then I don't think we'll have many roads left.

Riding with Phil, on Monday, I saw something in the road by Amerley museum and couldn't quite make out what it was.
It turned out to be crater!
Bigger than a bin lid and at least 4 inches deep.

The very best you could hope for is a broken bike.

Yay me,

I've completed my final goal of 2015.

Having just picked up my car from the garage it's new MOT shows I out rode it by just over 1000 miles.

Admittedly that says more about my hatred of driving and how parochial I've become, but hey a win's a win.

Yep, felt like the coldest commute so far this winter when riding in this morning. Quite comfortable coming home though.

Apologies if I've missed it, will there be any geeks fantasy cycling this year?

I'm always up for those one off pick velogames comps. I suppose they'll be doing a Tour down under one on there. Race starts this weekend.

Never really gave it a thought, but I can say the same too. Don't drive much.
