John, there's an Eastbourne Rovers guy who make's it his lifes work to win every segment KOM in Eastbourne, Bexhill and surrounding areas. If he loses it he either goes out same day to reclaim or flags your whole ride, which wipes everything from your updated stats. Very frustrating, a few of us been targeted, I've had 5 rides (about 400k and 4000m) flagged in last 3 weeks, all because of his little segments. Strava becomes a waste of time.
He doesn't appear to have entered Glanders territory yet though :)
So he's basically saying:-

'nobody is allowed to go faster than me'.

I can just about understand the desire to go out and reclaim a segment.
Strava is set up to play with your competitive urges, whether that be against yourself or friends.
After all it's just an extension of us all checking out Coombes or me attacking Phil's PB's solely because he's just a bit quicker than I am.
(Sadly for both of us, we're not challenging any top 10's)

But to question every person that beats him, is crazy.
I have no idea of the road in question yesterday.
But I looked out of the window, looked at the profile, and the direction you rode it, and as said you'd have been hard pressed not to smash it, if you wanted too.

Strava should attempt to help the fella by giving him a 'rest' from the site.

Either that or I'll come over with Colin and tell him he can't have a cake stop until he's smashed all the records.

T'is a shame it's physically impossible to be Team Cyclist on this one.

The quote 'there are morons riding bikes and morons driving cars' has never been more applicable.

I was thinking the same, no way the cyclist in question should have lost the wheel of the guy in front. That's just basics.

I'm not even a cyclist but I'm 110% team cyclist here.

The driver overtook on a roundabout.
He's immediately lost any credibility or argument he may have had from that action alone.

Angry drivers aside, I've got a Lithium Pinnacle One for sale if anyone's interested in a Hybrid Bike?
It's only done a few miles and has been kept in the spare room for weeks.

Was that report written by the cyclist?

It makes no reference to the cyclist equally appalling language and his goading of the driver.

Commute home today felt like being in a wind tunnel with someone operating a sprinkler . Home in one piece though and surprisingly quite enjoyed the experience. A special  to Pogue Mahone for that overshoe recommendation.

Where are you? My cousin has a place in Aude (Quillan) and I am sooo tempted to get one myself, sometime, especially at the prices there...

What are you riding?

I'm in the Gers ,Aude is about 2 hours away,I know Carcasonne, should imagine the hills there are even more challenging than where I am

I ride a standard VVT,mon voisin has an all singing all dancing rode bike and he puts me to shame

I just love this time of year, knowing there are week after week of good cycling

Yep, a friend just emailed me video and popped on here to get thoughts of our in house poet Motogull :)]

I'll watch the video later, but the golden rule is never concede the moral ground. If you drop a c-bomb, the chances are you'll not recover it. Sometimes, quality is better than quantity. The following took place about 4 years ago:

Had to go go to London today and soon after getting on a bus at the station back home, it all went a bit wrong. Some bloke it seems had a rail/tube ticket that did not extend to the bus ride to our nearby town. He got a bit cocky and took a seat when questioned by the driver rather than finish their 'conversation'. He said it was season ticket he'd used for years.

This day and age, it is no surprise to see someone 'following rules'. For all the driver knew, it might have been a spoof passenger testing the drivers out. He turned the engine off and called plod. Very annoying, but life ain't a bowl of cherries.

Two seemingly respectable passengers got uppity and started giving the driver grief. One in particular was getting personal and being abusive. The whole atmosphere was getting very hostile and more noisy. These respectable ones went on and on and I snapped. I've not had a great few weeks it has to be said and not my usual tolerant self.

I can't recall exactly what I said but it was along the lines of "why don't you pair of ***** just shut up?. You are boring me now. Haven't you worked out yet that you aren't gonna change anything?"

The less annoying **** did indeed shut the **** up, but the other took umbridge. He turned his attention to me and expressed his unhappiness at being called a **** in a hopeless attempt to secure an apology. I calmly said "well I did" which angered him more and he continued to try and provoke me. I was 'that' close to letting him have it with both barrels but retained enough composure to insult him further by ignoring him, instead taking out a book to read.

I have to confess to enjoying the ensuing 'Pete and Dud' scene that then panned out with the uppity **** using the word '****' himself repeatedly by way of pleading offence at my interruption; so much so that the driver and another passenger had to defuse the situation because of the unnecessary language.

I won. No more raised voices. I also 'won' by calling the **** a **** and then seeing him pulled up for swearing.

Eventually the bus took us home. I wondered if the top **** was gonna make some sarky comment when the first of us got off but thankfully he didn't.

That was a big gamble, but I pulled it off. As a cyclist, I'd not go there. Nobody says they came across a good cyclist, but they'd bleat like a stuck pig if a cyclist gave them a nano reason to.

True. I tend to restrict myself to the "despairing head shake" or sarcastic wave these days.

If I get a proper fright then the adrenaline kicks in and the f bombs get dropped. I'm also not above the odd tap on the window to educate!

If he continues to piss one of 'us' off, someone might want to mark his card that there's a Beachy Head descent KOM with his name on it.
