You've just gotta love irony.

Dear fellow cycling geeks - I was hoping you could offer me a bit of advice. I'm reasonably new to cycling, so far from an expert - and a little suspicious about what I've been told today.
I've taken my bike in for it's first ever proper service - it's about 1 year & (roughly) 6-700 miles old, so some kind of general service is probably overdue.
They've given me a call and said the chain is worn and needs replacing. Nothing to dodgy there - it's probably true - but they've followed it by saying that when replacing a chain, the cogs all need changing too - so if they do anything they have to do it all.
I can't see why a new chain would need a full new set of cogs, but as I say I'm not an expert. Am I being massively paranoid, or am I being ripped off?
Thanks in advance!
FYI kids, I believe the perceived wisdom when faced with a 'speed wobble' is to relax your grip arms and shoulders. (good luck with that) and steady the top tube with your thighs.
I've only ever had the one myself, it felt like riding a buckin bronco at 40 mph for 10 minutes.
When reality it was probably a buckin sloth for 10 secs.
Nevertheless it was definitely a miracle I stayed on, and it wiped all descending confidence from me for months.
and at the time did you feel like relaxing the top half of your body?Interesting SB, I had one of these descending Saddlescomb Rd, managed to keep it but it was so dramatic I was certain I had a puncture and rapid deflation. Stopped to the side and just couldn't get my head round the fact the tyres were absolutely fine, but I had been shaken about so much. Definitely heart in mouth moment. Thankfully, not happened since, but will remember the tip.
Ben! You're a cyclist! We'll have to go for a ride (when my knee is recovered).
I'm a bad bad man, I only check the leader board when there's something I want to see. like this week!!Anyone suspect that the Strava NSG group is making us a little more competitive? More rides, average speeds going up (yes, that is referring to you Stat Brother), or am I the only one that checks the leaderboard to see what everyone is doing?
Sadly being over here, the cross over isn't too often, Coombes seems to be the middle ground, which I ride up harder each time.
I was out with Phil a couple of weeks ago and we did a route similar to one of mine but he prefers it in reverse.Don't worry, I'm keeping a very close eye on these segments!![]()

It's felt a little weird and very different.
Much the same can be said of Coombes.
More often than not the route of choice for NSG's seems to be north to south.
Whereas I'm very much south to north having had a leg stretch along the coast.
I don't think I've ever done it the other way, as that seems too easy, all descents and 1 climb![]()
