Good on her! I think if I had to sue teams I'd ridden for just for my wages I'd go out with even stronger language than that!

I remember the very early days of watching TdF on Channel 4 when they had half hour highlights each evening. I know I'm not just imagining it that they used to show a quick round up of the womens race that used to run at the same time as the mens. I did a quick google to see what happened to that race and found this Tour de France Féminin - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia What a sad state of affairs :(

1066 is going to be hard to beat. I picked up team a week ago and I'll just see how it goes!

As much as I'd like it to be so, no matter how many times you say it, it doesn't make it true. New season, anything can happen, and probably will.

I'm only getting carried away at the mo because I just can't wait for the season to start - yes, even the TDU! I'm more excited at the prospect of the cycling season starting than I've ever been about a new football season. I only go fairly heavy on the research because I enjoy it. It beats watching TV any day of the week... unless there's cycling on of course:).

To help combat my afternoon light-headedness after a ride, I have sorted my pre ride tucker. What should I eat afterwards, or is that less important?

Less important but you need to eat well asap.
The 'window' for stuffing your face is about an hour, anything after that makes the ride pointless (something like that anyway)

Bizarrely enough Friij (sp) chocolate milkshake is one of the best recovery products on the market.

Post ride intake is all about recovery. Depends how soon you're going to ride again. If you're not in training mode then not doesn't make too much difference. Frijj is definitely as good as most 'specialist' recovery drinks!

Alcohol is bad. Interferes with glucose uptake into the muscles and is toxic to muscle recovery.

Maybe it was non-alcoholic beer then. I remember reading somewhere about beer being good.

Found it...
Good news, beer is a great sports recovery drink. Bad news, only if it Exploring the limits of the human body for your entertainment::

Indeed. I'd like her to stay involved in the sport in some way, as there's so much that needs to change, especially on the women's side. The UCI need another, separate kicking over it. She never seemed to be one of the BC 'faces' though, so I'm not sure if there's a role for her.

This is in reply to the riders getting fined BBC article. NSC is behaving most perculiarly for me this morning.

Yes, :clap2: indeed.

Why you would even want to ride the wrong way down St James's Street anyway I cannot fathom. Edward Street is one of my favourites to ride down, overtaking buses, sweeping right turn at the bottom if the lights go your way, most enjoyable. It is one of the few places in town where you can get a proper head of steam up without taking your life in your hands.

Just finished my Xmas hardback 'My Time' by Sir Wiggo. Anyone else offered a review elsewhere in Cycling Geeks? Would be interested to compare thoughts.

Personally, I thought it was a little all over the place. Was interesting to read how annoyed he was with Froome when he attacked on a couple of the mountain stages. Wiggins was clearly raging that this happened when he was in yellow and had a firm grip on the tour. Then instead of talking about his ride to the press, he's talking about how strong Chris looked, and why had Chris attacked. He went as far to say he was prepared to leave the tour there and then as he became infuriated in not knowing what the team thought they were riding for - although to be fair, Froome was the only Sky rider criticised in the book.

That part was interesting, as were others, but it's like the book was trying to give you the emotional side of the year, but without giving too much away. I ended up probably not liking Wiggins as much as when I started. He certainly sounds a complicated difficult character. Going to be very interesting how Sky resolve who is leading the tour this year.

Frijj (strawberry for me) and a piece of cake. Try not to eat more than you normally would come dinner time, a major failing of mine. Especially when it is cold like this, a long ride and I can eat constantly for the rest of the day which really isn't the point.

So glad you and Indurain's Lungs are on the Frijj bus.
I thought I'd have to fight the Frijj corner, to prove I'm not completely mentals.

Marginally of topic...

When are you going to sort a cycling related avatar?

I've found that if I eat reasonably well during the ride then I can offset that post-ride intense carb craving.

Food etc

That's it. Adding to shopping list; frijj, nutella and bagels. Thank you. Looking forward to Saturday even more now.

Single forks

Saw a cannondale in my local bike shop window. I really want to see a single-sided rear too. I guess after years of drooling over a 916, MV F4 & RC30 it is inevitable for me. I found a vid where someone reckons a single fork is stronger. Needs a curvier finish to catch on I reckon.

Security

Saw nice cat eye front light on offer on a chained up bike today. Twunt.
