I've not contributed to this thread yet - I missed it when it started, and so missed out on all that fantasy league stuff - is that starting from scratch again? I'd like to give it a go...
This thread stopped being about Fantasy many many moons ago, if it ever was.

Do you think the great and good of NSC will let us have separate cycling geeks and fantasy threads, or will that just invite more "I once saw a cyclist run a red light so you're all the spawn of the devil" type abuse?!

I think it's the Fantasy aspect that keeps us below the radar.

I'm still gob smacked (even by NSC standards) of the rogue TdF thread that popped up in the last week.
It was a shite storm binfestary of tw@tisms.

I just popped back to the begin and got to page 8, we were still pretty much Fantasy driven then.

Yeah, when I first saw the thread it all seemed to be Fantasy based, and as I had missed out at the start I never really checked it out again. Perhaps I should have done.

I'm not reading through 2 1/2 thousand posts though, even with an unexpectedly free evening!

I will return - I may have found my spiritual home.

It turns out we hold it together all spring.
But by pages 23/24 begin to loosen up.

Typical men tisk

In terms of that hill climb race, Glanders has just got KOM on Strava for the fastest climb up Alfriston Road, the fastest out of 78 other riders. 3mins43secs - well done that man!!

Thanks very much BS! Unfortunately strava is but a bit of fun and, in my experience, real world racing doesn't always go quite so neatly according to plan.... Not to mention the fact that I had a raging tailwind this morning! Anyway, didn't want to miss an opportunity for another shameless strava plug - it really is an excellent training tool (provided you don't become a slave to it) and it offers top geekery potential. All you need is a smartphone or garmin. What's not to like?

And re: the NSC race, I'd like to tip the fella (who's name temporarily escapes me) that has won a race finishing atop steyning bostal. I've raced up it a couple of times at the end of tts and its savage. Chapeau to that man!

Stoichkov - that's the one.

Glanders, you sound like you might be a tester? Do you spend your weekends narrowly avoiding death on dual carriageways across the country or are you more sane than that!?

Guilty, I'm afraid. Tend to do most of my racing on single carriageways rather than DCs, but that's more by virtue of where I live than out of any sense of self preservation. Are you a tester too, in the mould of your namesake?

Don't race at all any more but was very much a road/track man before. Only did the occasional club 10 for training.

Why not get really geeky.... What have you done for a 10/25?

I was 15 years younger and, most importantly, about 3.5st lighter!

I'd pop on that 2nd steep section now I reckon...

Another tail wind then Glanders as you break another KOM Strava record this week for a 1st place climb?? Are you going for 1 record a day!?! :lolol:

Does anyone have any good routes around Arundel/ Amberley way?

I fancy heading over there for a change at some point...

This is going to be another plug for Strava, but if you register for free online www.strava.com you can click <explore>, click <activity search> then type in a search such as 'Brighton to Arundel' or 'Arundel Loop', and specify whether Road, MTB etc. and you will be returned with routes Strava users have used. Really good resource for working out a decent route.

Since you asked.
How about 30-50 miles with a couple of hills?
Oh and maybe a nice technical descent if you can muster one up...
No probs.

Whiteways, Bignor, Fittleworth, bottom of Petworth, Duncton, Eartham, Slindon, Whiteways.
Whiteways, Slindon, Fontwell, Oving, Chichester, Goodwood, then either back through Duncton or Eartham.
Whiteways, Amberley, Storrington, Washington, Steyning, Steyning Bostal (Bold Seagull now laughing), seafront, Worthing, etc.
Whiteways, F/Worth, Petworth, Balls Cross, Fishers Farm loop, some village with hill in its name north of Storrington.

That'll do for now, I'll check out the last one on a map and pad it out for you, as it's a really nice ride.
