So a paint job to match the saddle then? What does that have to do with brakes? Or are we talking coffee breaks?
Unfortunately I think he's gonna squeeze this in the front and hope for the best.

So here she is..the latest addition to the FP stable.

I've always wanted a Marin since I was at school (who didn't want a Bobcat Trail, Bear Valley, or the Pine Mountain as a kid? *swoon*) but, as I found other interests growing up, I never bit the bullet.

When I got back into MTB riding about 15 years ago, Marin had kinda lost their way in the market, so I went other routes (Genesis / Giant)...until a couple of years ago when I first spied this little gravel beauty on Tredz. Its taken that long to justify it (thanks to the Orbea and Cinelli road bikes in between) but I've finally got to a point in my life where I could say "sod it" & treat myself (*plus it had over £200 discount and was less than a grand :D). Only had one proper run out so far, but it rides so well - and does everything I need these days on my easy bits of off-road riding.

It may be a modern incarnation, but just the word Marin on the down-tube makes me hark back to the glory days of the day-glo paint jobs, stems, and bar ends of the '80s, and images of Southern California where it all began with the Klunkers on Mt Tamalpais running the Repack race! 😎 So cool.

Great video below - get the coffee on and give it a watch!

That's a pretty serious dinner plate you have there!

If you like it, that's what matters most. Enjoy

It is rather large isnt it?! 51 tooth I think??

I had a couple of criteria I wanted - single ring at the front, and more of an MTB feel than just a road bike taking an occasional excursion off the tarmac (for the times I do proper trail rides & (hopefully) fully loaded bike packing this summer), so I guess a huge cassette was always going to be part of the deal! As my son has now claimed my full sus Giant, the Marin will be the one to "do-it-all" for me.
The Gestalt X ticked all the boxes, but it also feels pretty rapid on the roads, so I can use it as my daily commuter as well (with a change to skinnier tyres if needed).

After the joy of new bike day comes the down side...

Possible tear of the pectineus / adductor muscles in my groin during baseball training on Sunday - so now have a nice black'n'blue inner thigh, and likely to be off the bike for quite a few weeks while it repairs. Cant move my leg properly....and Im walking like Herr Flick from Allo Allo.

After my mental health problems last year I was determined to make '23 a better year, & went into it in a really positive mindset.

Couldn't be a worse start though tbh

Weather's a bit shite isn't it.
Allegedly the last day.
I'm already bracing myself for cycling to work next week.

If nothing else my head seriously needs it.

Since moving back into central Brighton two years ago I have walked to work. This has put a serious dent in my cycling mileage, and the weather hasn't encouraged me to get out much.

Last year was my least active for decades.

I intend to get out a lot more this year. At some point.

I finally succumbed and bought myself a Gravel bike (Marin Gestalt X11) which I absolutely love.

This means I can get rid of my current bike and was wondering where is the best place to advertise it.

I was thinking Facebook marketplace but I wonder if there any specialist bike websites who have a "marketplace" area.

I've generally sold my bikes on FB Marketplace without any problems at all. Cant think of any other websites tbh.
Oh, and welcome to the Gestalt X-Club...my new one is still sitting in the shed basically unused as Im injured!
