Thank you- I had a cube about 4 years ago cost me around £1400 it was great, I purchased it based on colour not spec as I havent a clue, I'm based in Southwick, I've been to more or two local shops, didnt particularly find them helpful

Thirded for Southdowns, Storrington is the head office, so try and get there.

That said as you're easily swayed by aesthetics it might not be the place for you.
It's very nicely laid out and even I have been tempted by a Specialised, from there, before now.

You can't go wrong with a Specialized...

Yeah as banjo says, if you're surprised by that, you don't ride a bike!!!

Hi. I’ve rode (on a casual basis for fitness) for 18 years. I’ve seen shocking driving typically drivers turning left across the path of cyclists.

But hadn’t seen a middle aged, big geezer start on a young female.

I'd suggest the big geezer didn't see a young female.

He saw a cyclist.
A cyclist in his way.
A cyclist who doesn't pay 'road tax'.
A cyclist who always rides through the red lights he stops at.
A second class citizen...

...who happened to be a young female.

Can anyone help on ebike advice please, I wishing to buy an ebike, but have very little or no real experience, I'm heavy, 26 stone nearly and also 6ft 4, I'm desperately unhealthy and need to change, motivation is a big problem, I have a budget of ideally £2k but have looked up to £3k any advise would be greatly appreciated

Wife bought the trapeze (female) version of the Cube Cross Hybrid One 500 Allroad e-bike a couple of years ago and would thoroughly recommend.

Similar position to you and I ended up with a Cube mountain bike that I've converted into a commuter bike. I figured I'd do it that way as it should be a bit sturdier than a normal E-bike.

I absolutely love it and am very evangelical about its benefits, I haven't lost much weight but that isn't the bikes fault, it's mine for not changing my diet or riding it enough.

I'm in the process of changing my diet and was riding almost every day up until some twunt left 3" screws in the road that curtailed my ride home the other day, I took this as a sign to do some preventative maintenance and discovered that my front hub was wrecked.

Anyway, back to your question, most bikes will list a maximum system weight which is you, all your kit and the bike added together. Mine is rated at 125Kg and it works fine, bar the hub, Kalkoff do a range called the XXL which apparently are rated up to 150Kg so they might be worth a look.

Definitely look into a Cycle to work scheme if you can, and apparently they've just announced a load of incentives at today's CV briefing.

Do it, you won't regret it.

Does anyone have any experience with Trek Dual Sport bikes?

Looking at something for road and off road use, in somewhat hilly terrain.

I slightly regret turning a general 'back on a bike' chat thread into a nerdfest on behalf of East Staffs Gull.

Over here we love that kind of question, we've always had a 'no stupid questions' policy, while 'be nice' originated here.

That looks like a regular hybrid bike at the off-road end of the spectrum.

I'll hazard a guess it's competing with an awful lot of bikes in that particular subsection, many that will be cheaper.

I'd suggest if you can, you really nail down where you expect to be riding in what conditions and whether you'll be loaded up or not.

Why don't tyre manufacturers make front and rear tyres? So concerned about an old gator front am I that I've been riding with a spare tyre just in case it explodes. 'It' is on its third rear partner.

I fear I may have crossed 10's irresponsibility line again.

Thankyou for everyone's help on this, the names of businesses you gave me have all be spoken too, none could help with a purchase but, they have all given good advice It appears that most bikes are out of stock and with the world in an unusual place, nothing can be ordered...I've found a nice bike (full suspension), love the colour!! miles from home, but with a grand off (2019) it comes in budget at £3k as long as the bike can take my weight, which may be an issue, it will be purchased tomorrow, if that fails, I may need more help on buying a hard tail Mountain bike!!

Blimey. I've hit my dream BMI: 21.5. I'm gonna keep shedding the insulation until the moobs and squashed bagel from my abdomen disappear, then I'll try and build back up.

Reckon I got the bargain of the year last week.

My eldest lad has never really enjoyed cycling but, the few times hes borrowed my Stance during our family lock-down rides, he has started to open his eyes to life on two wheels. My mate at work picked up an old Dawes Karakum hybrid / tourer off his neighbour, and I gave him £50 for it so my boy could get out on his own bike whenever he wanted. Deore gears, Parallax hubs, Mavic rims, brushed aluminium frame, and really light. I cleaned it up at the weekend and adjusted / changed a few bits...and he loves it. Not spotless by any means, but a great bike at that price - especially when you consider they were c£650 new. Hes done 70km since Wednesday, and even phoned me from the top of Seaford Head on his first ride to tell me that he now understands why I enjoy it so much. Best £50 I've ever spent :D

Help me Geeks I have developed a problem and it looks like this:-

960x0.jpg

4 hours ago I recoiled in horror, as well

It popped up on my twitter timeline when someone I follow, retweeted someone I've never heard of, unable to contain his excitement about the review he was putting together.

Wondering what his excitement was about I read this:-

Blimey charlie it reads like the Space Shuttle on wheels and now I want one!
