I'd have no problems wearing it at all.

I attended Highland Gatherings for 20 years with my Grandfather. Kilts galore.

The issue isn't so much with the kilts. Its THOSE tops. Apart from the style, they are so loud, they clash with themselves. They look like they are made from 70's bri nylon.
