TBH better off seeing a podiatrist and getting custom inserts made imo - they'll do an ultrasound on your feet, full gait analysis and then mould exactly to your feet rather than buying 'off the shelf' inserts that may not do the right job. Fixed my achilles tendinitis that had been worsening for 2+ years.
When I had a knee replacement my consultant booked the appt AND paid for the insoles.....wear them in every set of footwear (barring FitFlops of course. Took loads of videos and measurements of everything, great job.

Depending on where the OP is based, RUN opposite West Worthing station is great. I am not a runner these days but wanted decent trainers for walking and, as I have a wide toe box, struggle to find mainstream trainers that are comfortable.

The guy in RUN discussed my needs and came back with a few options and I ended up with HOKA trainers which have been great for me.

Thanks for your post - which I totally misread as that I should RUN opposite West Worthing station! As I live in salubrious Southampton I’d be knackered before I get there. Great advice by the way.

I was eventually, after many many tests diagnosed with high arches. I was given custom made insoles that helped then I had them in a half size, no toes, even better. Then, I found skechers arch fit and eureka. I could only stand for 10 minutes or so now I can stand and walk for hours. The other thing I found is my feet are most comfy in flip flops, they seem to mould into my arches.

Any New Balance with a "Fresh Foam" sole, they're fantastic. To quote Aled Jones you feel like you're walking in the air.

We also bought these for Mrs.W at the start of an NYC holiday last year to cope with 25k steps each day on pavements. Got the thumbs up.

Imho well worth every penny.
This is what I've done for my plantar fasciitis and they're really good, especially with a decent insole in them. Given me hope after many months of acute pain.

McDonald’s physically makes me feel sick the smell of the place the crap service the crap food that’s barely warm yuk.
I know what you're saying about the all-pervading greasy smell, but you can avoid all those problems and get a drive-through ice cream 🍦 - absolutely lovely (credit where it's due).
