Currie money used for McCammon

well a small portion anyway, from Insider on Ask The Club:

"We haven't sold Cullip, Knight, Harding or Hinshelwood. Currie as you point out has been sold and the manager has been able to use a small amount of those funds to bring in one player today (Mark McCammon from Millwall)."

To be perfectly honest I'm surprised by that, I would've thought it would all go to the A&K fund! Still nice to see DK *DOES* care about the playing side :)

nice to see. though looking at it realistically we would have only had 1 striker and then virgo if mcammon hadnt signed and of course no goals means no points mean relegation etc etc.

Maybe DK wants to make sure he keeps his manager as well :)

I think we probably would've kept Claridge id we didn't get MCammon....

Not sure that I see how the Currie £250K has been used for McCammon.
Currie was paid wages, Claridge was paid wages. Both of these wages have been saved.
McCammon will be paid wages - this cannot be £250k more in a month than Currie + Claridge.
Perhaps it is being saved for a transfer fee if the loan period works out but how much can a non scoring (this season in 15 games) striker cost?
Of course if he performs well for us in that month the price will go up.

Totally agree. You don't pay a fee for a loan player, you pay their wages and often not all of them.

The more I hear answers from Insider, informing us that "a small amount of Currie,s transfer fee was used to sign Mcgammon"........the more I realise the Board think we,re halfwits....!!!!! Also... I noted another answer to "Ask the Board"question stated that if we get the go-ahead for Falmer the money spent on the Public Enquiries will be refunded......IF that is the case....why are the board so reluctant to put any more money in.........????????? I hope the answer is "they haven,t got anymore"....and not......."we realise at last after taking professional advice, that we have been chasing a pipedream....so we,ve already lost a shitload of money, and don,t want to lose anymore...."

I think you will find the answer is we have not got any more

I would guess / see our £2m cash shortfall as being:

- at the end of each financial year on 30th June we should have a bank balance of all the season ticket money i.e. to pay the wages for the following season

- when we ended our last financial year on 30th June 2004 we had a bank balance of all the season ticket money LESS £2M

i.e. If no "Alive & Kicking Fund" 250k, Spurs game £250k and Currie £250k we would run out of cash to keep the club afloat through the winter and pay for next part of public enquiry

Thus we need to aim to end our current financial year on 30th June 2005 with a CASH BALANCE OF ALL THE SEASON TICKET MONEY - to achieve this we are £1.25m short at the minute - but at least we can pay all the wages for rest of season

Reason for delay in offering contracts for next season is we need to know how much cash we will have to pay the wages next season - can't pay what we won't have - simple really!!!

surely its come from the same wages we were paying claridge

No, because we offered him a month too, but he wanted a season deal.

Now Danny has left we need to make sure we offer McGhee a new two year deal asap

McGhee has a chance to make the team his own re bringing through a few more young players

El-Abd will now be a regular in the squad for instance
