It's very Eurocentric but isn't it based on the results and quality of the opposition.
Outside of Palmeiras and Flamengo I don't think the quality is all that and Palmeiras couldn't beat a half interested Chelsea in the World Club Championship last year. It was taken very seriously in Brazil.

Fair enough. I've never taken much interest in the club world championship, but I do remember when the winners of the European Cup played a one-off match against the South American champions - and usually lost, IIRC!
