Marking Peter Crouch at a corner is "like somebody throwing a bike at you".

Can't remember where I heard that, but it always makes me smile.

Must confess I totally underestimated how tall he really is. Would be a nightmare to defend against. Always felt he should have had a better run for England. Another one of those players that did very well when he played for England but was dropped based on others club form. Shame.

He wasn't very talented though. All everyone ever says about him is that he's difficult to defend against; that's not much at international level.

When he scored that cracking volley from miles out a couple of years back, someone described it as like a "wardrobe clattering down a spiral staircase". Lovely stuff.

Why do you suppose this flight is taking so long (Pete*), we took off over 14 hours ago!
(* after 14 hours sitting next to each other, bar the odd toilet break, I assume you've become familiar enough to be able use the abbreviated form of his christian name without causing offence)

Only in friendlies and really low grade opposition though. I don't think he ever scored against anyone decent or scored in a meaningful game or a bagged a significant goal.

goals per minute at internationals is better than most though

Bugger, wish I'd seen this earlier.

I want to know what happens if you go on a survival course, but fail
