"Seagulls Chat is owned and operated by someone with a great deal of knowledge in forums and how they work. Having pioneered several incredibly large forums in the past (over 500,000 members, 10m+ posts and 10-15,000 members online average) we know exactly what hardware and software to use to keep everything flowing just great. "
I've just had a look at that site. A mod is promoting 'Brighton on TV' which will be streaming the Leeds game. Are they paying Sky or whoever for this priviledge, because it sounds like they might be charging viewers (it's members only).

I think 'Brighton on TV' is a website that Falkor started. He said he wasn't interested in making money with it. See A site im thinking about

Tapatalk working fine for me! :)

That will only be if you are able to get directly into the Forum. Many can't as it crashes out before then.

If you try 'Latest' or 'Participated' it will all go horribly wrong.

Any news on when you hope to do the vBulletin upgrade?

I realise it's not something you do lightly, but as you've said, needs to be done sooner rather than later.

The international break has come at a good time, as NSC will be quiet-ish and we'll be between Betting Game rounds, so it's my task for next week.

Are software upgrades not a matter of course then?
Are we genuinely still on 4.1.3 at the moment despite the security flaws or is that just a custom theme remnant? I do appreciate that an upgrade to 5 may not be worth the time and cost, but I feel we really should be on the button with security updates considering the number of us here, I would assume a lot of people use the same password for everything as well.

Generally.. it kinda depends which hosting service you're on. The cheapest high-capacity services rely on spreading things around in a giant cluster that's managed by the provider - so they control what updates get installed and when. Any software installed on top of that is the customer's responsiblity - so, for example, if they provide the LAMP stack and you run vBulletin, it's up to you to keep in sync.

Some providers are terrific about providing notice of updates.. some will just do things and let you find out when things break.

You pays yer money... :)
