OK, here is the current first team (taken from www.seagulls.co.uk and includes recent signings who have not yet been added, as well as Lynch who seems to have been misplaced) -

Goalkeepers

Michel Kuipers
Graeme Smith
Josh Pelling

Defenders

Andrew Whing
Adam El-Abd
Colin Hawkins
Jim McNulty
Adam Virgo
Tommy Elphick
Steve Cook
James Tunnicliffe
Joel Lynch

Midfielders

Dean Cox
Kevin McLeod
Gary Hart
Steven Brinkhurst
Mark Wright
Andrew Crofts
Gary Dicker

Strikers

Nicky Forster
Glenn Murray
Jonny Dixon
Craig Davies

Forgetting Slade has said he'd like to add X more players. How many transfers and in which positions would you be happy with before the beginning of the season? You can include realistic transfers out if you wish.

I personally would cash in on Murray, as much as I appreciate his talents, and purchase a first team striker to partner Forster, with Davies in reserve.

I'd then like to see a promising young striker, who knows he's going to be a reserve team player next season, as I don't think 4 (including Dixon) is enough.

Finally, I'd like an out and out first team winger.

2x Striker
1x Winger

With those three signings, I'd be happy with the squad we have.

I think Slade has worked wonders with strengthening the midfield. Also very happy with the keeper situation. I, as I think many others, was worried after Sully got the boot. I expect Smith to be right on Kuipers heels from the off.

Should also add, my reasons for selling Murray are solely based on the speculation of him / his misses not being happy down here. If it's all nonsense then I'm pretty happy to keep him as my first team striker, and would then only need the 2 signings.

says it all really.....

oh and we need a left back as McNulty wont be fit to start the season and may not manage to play every game even when he is back

and still expecting to see players leave....el abd/dixon/the aforementioned livermore/mcleod/hawkins........ must all be borderline to be offloaded if someone came in prepared to pay their salary while lynch and (sadly and possibly irreplacably) murray are also odds on to go before the season starts

To be fair to Sam, he said that it was the first team squad according to the Seagulls Website. David Livermore is not on their squad profiles:lolol:

Still need at least 2 more midfielders. I'm not sure Crofts is intended as a first team starter so I wouldn't be suprised to see another high quality central midfielder coming in, and hopefully another winger to give Cox and Wright competition (no Kevin, you're not competition). Need another striker as well as Forster or Murray are bound to be injured a fair bit, and Hart and Davies aren't going to score enough goals between them to be serious 1st team starters.

We really need one or two central midfielders, unless Livermore gets his chance next season. Otherwise we're going to have to have El Abd or Virgo playing in there at some point.

We also need a striker (though I think Davies will come good this season) and a temporary left-back assuming McNulty isn't fit for the start of the season

Loan out Dixon, Hawkins, Mcleod (let him get fit).

Bring in one forward (two if murray goes), a LM, and a LB on loan for 3 months if Livermore isnt up to it at left back.

I think we would be stupid to sell Lynch before we manage to buy another Left back.

That is all.

keep lynch please great player would be cover for mc nulty untill he gets back. then he can revert back to centre half we should be doing are upmost to try and keep him. defence looks strong and with the signings of smith tunicliffe retaining whing. midfield looks like its lacking numbers. but with the right sort of players wright dicker croft coxy. and strikers strong starting two less convincing back up need more flair. come on russ keep them signings coming !:albion2:

I'm guessing Slade has only seen Harty for 10 games so thinks he is a season long back up for RW. LW is a concern as McCleod isn't good enough. Cox is but when he has his poor spells we need competition there. Also light if we get injuries and suspensions in CM.
Defence is pretty much there providing we can keep Lynch happy until Jan.
Up front would add x1 or x2 if we lose Murray .

So

x1 Left Winger
x1 CM midfielder (ideally being best signing so far)
x1 CM squad player , up and coming perhaps
x1 striker (x2 if Murray goes) , again a proven striker would be best

we need a proven striker, but will probably have to spend a huge "undisclosed fee" on?
Maybe someone who previously we thought would be out of our thinking, but now maybe we could lure into our ambitons?

Maybe somelike Nathan Tyson? Forest have just signed McGoldrick, Adeboola and still have Earnshaw, McCleary and Newbold on their books?

We also need a midfield general to compete with Crofts and Dicker? Maybe Anthony Grant of Southend? Going back to Forest, there is Thornhill?

They want Lynch, maybe there are deals to do with them?
