Interesting distinction between classic and cult when it comes to cars. My owned list includes
Jag XJS V12
Classic mini and van
Nissan Skyline
Triumph TR7 (one with a V8)
VW Beetle
Ford Fiesta XR 2i
Range Rover P38

I would probably only include the TR as cult.

Owned these (maybe classics?):

Mk1 Escort (racy cam/twin Webbers/4branch manifolds etc)
3.0 S Capri (eat a set of tyres in a month)
XR3i
205 Gti 1.9 (insane car)
MR2 (1993) worse lift off oversteer of any production car ever - would swap ends at 30mph on the right wet surface

Sensible metal when kids arrived.

Still want a 205 GTI. Beautiful design too.

Had a 911 3.2 which was a thing of beauty. Sold for family estate. 🥲

BMW 8 series
Renault 5 Turbo GT
Datsun 280Z
1980s BMW 3 series

Short list.

Yep, the "Type Four platform", a collaboration between Saab, Fiat, Lancia and Alfa Romeo (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Type_Four_platform).

I've driven the Saab and the Alfa and would put the Saab as slightly better due to the 2.3 Turbo engine edging the Alfa 3.0 V6.

I am biased but few engines can compare to the sound of a Busso V6, I’ve owned a couple of 164s but not a QV. Front wheel drive with all that power does mean flooring the pedal in the wet can very easily result in “Hello Mr Sheep” on country roads

I am not going completely off topic as the 164 QV is 100% a cult car...to Alfisti. It also has four wheel drive unlike the basic 164 so torque steer is not as bad

I had a mate who was a dyed in the wool Saab fan and he wouldn’t consider any equivalent saloon to be as good.

Which reminds me of another cult car

Anyone mentioned the old Messerschmitt where you had to turn the engine off then start it again in reverse to go backwards, haven't seen one on the roads for years. Also the Isetta!!!

Had one just like this in 1992, then a silver coupe, a silver hatch and a blue exclusive hatch over the years

One of these [emoji15]https://angliacarauctions.co.uk/classic/results/saturday-1st-sunday-2nd-may/1960-bmw-isetta-300/

Yup, you could look a right cult driving one of those, the front door is amazing, personally I would have liked a Mesher not sure about the uniform tho!
