Interesting Eddie has said that she/her and He are ok to call Eddie. So I wonder if someone was to call Eddie a He, would they be breaking the law even though Eddie said it’s ok? What are the actual laws on this? Not that it matters as obviously The Palace connection is deeply worrying.

It'll be interesting to see how many nut-job candidates Reform UK put forward at the next GE. One thing that is for sure is that they'll get heavy support from Brexiteers and that they will split the Tory vote. Who knows, Kermit might eventually be elected as an MP.

In a GE I'd vote for the proverbial pig's bladder on a stick if it wore a red rosette, so I really don't care who the candidate is. And certainly I wouldn't be swayed by their football team.

Izzard does say that it's important to elect a Labour MP in Brighton Pavilion so the city can have a voice in government. Take note all those of you tempted to vote for Lucas's successor.

Strange choice IMHO - Eddie Izzard has very different policy thoughts to Starmer and Peter Kyle.

Whilst CL is/was an excellent local MP, the Green's have shown they can't run a bath, let alone a Council.

I’m not so sure Lizzard has been selected only that they have applied , I don’t want a Crystal Palace fan anywhere near Brighton as an MP, surely within the ranks of the Brighton & Hove Labour Party there is a local hardworking person who would be proud to represent their city, not some scummy celebrity interloper who if that wasn’t bad enough is a scum fan ffs

I appreciate it's long been common practice for all the major parties, but I'd have serious reservations about voting for a non-local parachuted in to contest a seat.

For me, it just says "I want to be an MP" rather than "I want to represent the people of the constituency I live in and am familiar with".

I would argue that trans Issues are very small potatoes compared to the clusterfuck of corrupt wankers that we have screwing this country over. No brainier really.

Having remembered that my vote goes into the last constituency I lived in before I emigrated, I now realise that it goes to Worthing where I lived for six months or so. Labour it is then.

Wow, I reckon I could call Eddie a myriad of things, muppet, arsehole, fishface and none of them would be illegal. What makes you think using the word ‘he’ could get you prosecuted?

Well, that would seal the deal for me. Since the divine Caroline announced she would be stepping down, I've been wavering about going back to voting Labour. I didn't feel I could do it if they were still committed to Brexit, but I thought I'd see who the candidate was and what they said. A Palace fan representing me would be too much.

Trump and Boris don’t seem to be overly centrist to me….quite the opposite.

Johnson wasn't anything apart from an opportunist attempting to promote and enrich himself. Socially he was quite liberal, and economically he was guided by Tory donors. Or, more accurately, donors to Boris Johnson.

I'm not voting there - the Johnson fanboy Andrew Griffith will get in here regardless of my vote - but I suspect Eddie's voice will be about him and trans issues rather than the city. But mainly about him.

i'd make it a rule to have some links, though its probably more common to come from outside. Lucus is from the Midlands, everyone seems fine about that.

Izzard has been scouting around for some position in Labour for years, NEC, London Mayor, Sheffield. been a campaigner at large, i dont think representing a constituency is really the priority, just being in Labour.

I don't really get the point about having to be local. People move all around the world to do jobs and can be excellent at them when they get there. If my MP comes to live in the constituency and goes to great lengths to embed himself/herself in the community that's good enough for me.

As for Izzard: I don't particularly like the guy, but only because I think he's very overrated as a comedian and he was rude to me once when there was really no need to be. Plus I hope the Greens hold their Brighton seat.

I'll be voting for Sian as agree that a Green voice in Parliament is worthwhile and don't want to contribute to a Labour majority so lucky to have an alternative option.

Even without Lucas, the Green's have this seat sewn up with 57% of the vote, just 23% voted Labour!
