I can see that it would be a rather sanitised experience, and wouldn't give Das Reich and his mates their chosen complete football experience.

Perhaps if they put the match on 4 of the screens, and played Green Street on the other one, that would improve it for them?
"Green Street" ? I thought Das would be old school "The Firm" (Bex [Gary Oldman] and Yeti [Phil Davis])

Having bought tickets for the game the nearer it comes the more I dread it, will be arriving around 2 ish and just going to the ground, experience the inevitable kettle coming home then drink when back at my local.

I think this may well be the last time I bother

Sounds like you are one more (inevitably) rubbish experience away, from reaching the point that Simster (and I) is already at. Its just SO much hassle, and you simply know that the policing and restrictions will make it a right drag.

All the same, I hope that, come 5pm on the first, I'm deeply regretting not going!

There's a debate currently being had with American Football.

All but 2 games are played live on Sunday, all of which are televised through one provider or another.

They have 'redzone', which basically means you sit in your armchair and watch all of the important stuff happening, in all of the games, as redzone flicks from game to game.

The downside being, attendance in the stadiums is decreasing as people want to watch everything.

So now they are trying to make provision at the stadiums for people to watch other matches than the game they are at!

It really is a crap experience, IMO, and miles out of step with the match day experience you should expect in 2012. Back in the 80s when this sort of policing and crap facilities were unavoidable, you were only paying a fiver to get in. What is it now? £35? Scandalous.

I suspect you are right a lot will depend on the result.

The longer away we go the more Mini seems to enjoy the away experience as do I - Blackburn will be an awful lot better as was Huddersfield and Blackpool recently

£49 for myself and an U15 - the most expensive away game as opposed to £25 at Blackburn and guess which will be the nicer ground ?

I suspect that this thread is proving that Brighton fans have 'gone soft' with their poncey new ground.

Bothered.

I think you may have a point as the bar has been raised considerably on match day experience since the Amex

I wanted to take Stat Club Jnrs to the Charlton game as their first away experience, but sadly work intervened.

What a difference a week makes, from Selhurst to The Valley.

Indeed. It would be the same for me +1, only we'd have the trains, etc to add on (don't go there :jester:).
We'd be looking at the best part of £100, for a day out, that I know there would be large aspect of that we would not enjoy.

Of course, IF the result goes well, its easy to ignore all the other crap, but you really shouldn't have to. I can cope with being kept in / herded about / treated like shit myself, but I'm not prepared to accept it for my kids.

I'm going to have a huge Heart v Head battle until the tickets are sold out.

Well it can't be TOO mental in there or they'll be chucking people out. Liable to be loud and raucous though, which is fun for us, but perhaps a bit intimidating for the younger kiddies.

I'm struggling to picture what sort of setup its going to be. I've been in the East Stand brasserie / 1901 at the southern end of the East stand last season. They've got tables set up, with TV's on the walls. Are those tables and chairs remaining, with us watching the game on those numerous TV's ? Or are they setting up a big screen ? Might be a bit of a scrum to get a decent view.

I'm more concerned about FFS scoring, and a volley of abuse and vitriol being hurled and unmissable to tender ears.

Plus the reaction of everyone else

Das reich,

Diehard? I've actually been 3 times to Palace.

ooh. I wonder why I haven't been more times?
Answer: because in 15 years we have been utter pony in
the lower leagues - so no opportunity to go anyway.
