The merger of Hibs and the Jam Tarts was mooted years ago, but such was the opposition from fans (and I'm guessing other behind the scenes reasons) that the idea of mergeing these fierce rivals was shelved. So the hypothetical question is, would you accept the merger of BHAFC and CPFC if the end result was a serious footballing power with a massive fan base across the south, a top five Premiership finish each season/serious title challengers and a club competing strongly and regularly in Europe?

The club would play in either an Acquafresh toothpaste style red, blue and white striped top or blue and white stripes with a red sash running diagonally and the badge would be a 'rampant' seagull and eagle facing each other either side of a football.

I can always remember back to when they tried to merge Oxford with Reading, that didn't go down too well either!

Thames Valley Royals, you mean.

If we merged, it would have to be called Brighton & Hove Palbion. Would you accept the merger, then?

Erm no because we are not even close to each other. Palace/Millwall or Palace/Charlton would be better location wise. But generally we have more than enough of a catchment area ourselves

Stupid question really.

You really are a miserable twot aren't you Douglas Deep? It's a hypothetical question the point of the thread being to guage whether deep down people value success over history and tradition, having a club that may only ever flirt briefly with the lower echelons of the top flight or one that could compete with the Man Us or Liverpools.

Villa is my wembley

Merging professional football clubs shouldn't be allowed. Remember our proposed merged with Fulham? Fulham Park Rangers ffs? Or worse still the talks around merging us with Wimbledon ... Wimbledon Park Rangers or my preferred option, Quimbledon??
