Croydon is "unsafe and a dump", say Ukip

I hate bloody Croydon - miserable, grey, depressing, violence-tinged dump.

I very much like Brighton town. However, it's true to say it has its share of homeless people, crack addicts, crime, crumbling buildings, riots, and of course its own monument to arson that still crumbles into the sea (much like BHAFC's promotion dreams each year) as we very speak. I even recall a thread on NSC bemoaning the brazenly public sexually deviant practices of Brighton and Hovians as also reported in a local newspaper.

However, the hilarious on pitch goings on at the Amex somewhat preclude any of these social ills being particularly high in the consciousness of the average Palace fan.

As I said before, thank goodness these perceived shortcomings of Croydon (nothing to do with CPFC) do provide the followers of BHAFC with some crumbs of comfort.

Your gift for comedy is somewhat akin to Croydon's ability to attract repeat tourists. :shit:

I would assume that a business centre's success at repeat tourism are about as relevant to Croydon as my factual straightening of this thread's inaccuracies and hypocrisies are relevant to my comedic skills.

Not every town is a fading monument to a bygone area, depending on tourists to prop up its failing facade.

I was driving through Croydon on Sunday as part of the London to Brighton Mini Run. Various Brighton stickers adorn my mini and whilst stationary in a queue of traffic I noticed in my rear view mirror the passenger in the car behind giving me a two fingered salute. I rightly assumed it was a Palace fan giving me a bit well deserved grief!

I acknowledged his gesture with a friendly thumbs up. Oh dear what a mistake!! He got out of the car and started madly shouting at me through the window. He then went round to the other side to do the same to my girlfriend. He then proceeded to punch and kick my car and then tried to pull off the aerial. He was seriously off his face and there was no way I was going to confront him!

Thankfully he got back in his girlfriends car and turned off before I could get his reg no.

I know there's a rivalry and my car stickers (some might say) were a red rag to a bull, but I think this was taking it a bit too far!!

Blimey. Why were you pleased you didn't get the index? I'd be well pissed off if some palace **** even BREATHED on my motor...let alone kick the blighter and bend the aerial. Did no one else on the run witness this retard beasting your car?

There is such a thing as CCTV you know...even in Croydon. I'm no legal expert but I reckon you've got:

Public disorder
Criminal damage
Threatening behaviour

There's probably loads of other chargeable stuff too...threats to kill? Verbal abuse?

Just saying "phew, this maniac didn't kill me or my bird, so that's alright" is passing this on to some other peaceful motorist who might dare to support Brighton and have a sticker in their car.

Since when did a football sticker constitute incitement to violence? It's a bit lame but thas all. You taking ANY BLAME for this is mental.

So do I. But most Palace fans live in affluent surrounding areas of London, Surrey and Kent. Most football grounds exist in dumps of areas especially London clubs, take Spurs and West Ham for example. I really don't get the whole let's criticise Palace because their ground exists in a crap area. Nobody should care and it's a pointless discussion.

Indeed, just to clarify again, Selhurst park is not even in Croydon. Even so, if Crystal Palace supporters were to live in 'areas like Croydon' or any less affluent parts of the country, could someone remind me why this would qualify them for ridicule and criticism from Brighton fans?

How would you know what Brighton is actually like , seeing that you're a Palace fan living in the USA ?

It's not areas 'like' Croydon, It's specifically Croydon. Why? Because it's the shit-hole that all other shit-holes are measure against, as in: "Yes, Ma'am. St Leonard's Warrior Square is a bit crap but at least it's not Croydon"

It's because Brighton is a non-entity of a club and even when the Gnome gives them £120m to overtake us, they royally stuff it.

So to make themselves feel better, they criticise Croydon, South Norwood, the ground etc - ooh, that hurts. Plus at the same time accusing us of being Nigels, who obviously wouldn't live in said areas. Genius, as ever, from our dim friends.

A non-entity of a club yet you were so annoyed by what we say about you that you're not even happy with other Palace fans sticking up for your little patch of hell, you've felt the need to register on our forum and post yourself. Effing noddy insecure fans, the lot of you.

In the grand scheme of things, yes Palace are clearly the more successful side out of the two of us but it's like two bald men fighting over a comb. Neither of us have ever had any real success. Probably never will but one thing's for sure, when it comes to which is the cooler we win hands down with both club and town, darling. It's a lifestyle thing.

I don't really care what you say about Croydon - moved from there years ago.

Of course you are the epitomy of cool with your clackers, silent fans and the backing of Quentin Fatboy Slim turncoat. I wish we could be like you.

Of course matey. That's why you keep posting in this thread trying to score points off a Brighton fan. Not bothered? Not much.

I do care in that I'm from Croydon originally and it's not THAT bad. I just find it amusing that you clutch at straws by slagging off the area that the ground is located in as if it's some consolation for us playing Chelsea off the park, while you lot are looking like my son's u10 team at Pride Park.

Fine, if it makes you feel better.

It clearly doesn't make you feel better. In the words of Bill Clinton: I feel your pain, I really do.

No pain here Nobby - it's you lot revelling in how horrible Croydon is as some consolation, while weeping inside over another play-off farce. Carry on!

Your protestations of not being bothered might carry a bit more credibility if you hadn't been flip-flopping on the subject like an amateur. Seriously, you're a crap troll. Maybe go away and re-think your strategy, yeah?

I actually completely agree with you. For all the point scoring we can do for having a better ground or it being a nicer area your come back of 5-0 or 0-2 or mid table premier league and it'll win every time. But as you say if it makes people feel better then let them get on with it.

That said as Buzzer points out it clearly does rankle with you despite your protests else you wouldn't have come on here to voice said protests. I've never understood folk who actively go off and seek other peoples opinions who they know are going to differ wildly to their own and then get offended by it. Each to their own I guess and to quote you again.....if it makes you feel better!
