I was working in London many years ago and I had the chance to Skive.
It was raining hard so I thought I would go into the public gallery at the Old Bailey.
Asking for a suggestion to which court to go to I went in.
It was a child rape case and the were right at the horrible bit where the girl was giving evidence.
The accused kept looking at the gallery and giving w*****r signs, he was a horrible greasy little toad.
First opportunity I had l left but on the way out the security guard said "happy now".
I felt awful and never forgotten it.

Last I heard he emigrated to Perth WA

And made a lot of money in the scaffolding business

Had an elder brother,Chris

That’s good to hear. I had this horrible feeling that he was one of the Tideway lads who succumbed to heroin. Pleased that’s wrong.

Some others made their way to WA too eg Dean and Scott Fresher.

Dean played rugby to high level in Oz. He was an all sporting star at school, no doubt Mr Davies was proud.

Scott was older than me, a sometimes mischievous character. I always got on very well with him, including on a school Welsh Camp to Lake Llangorse.

I used to catch the end of it while I was waiting for Mr Ben, Bod or Bagpuss - Incredibly boring for a 5 yr old!

Gwilym was in my tutor group Mr Pierson’s block D. I always liked him. Once saw his Dad really destroy him with a trainer in the gym changing rooms after PE ... he must done something pretty bad.

I hated walking through the C block corridor at breaks .... feet ready to trip you up.

In the early 70’s Taff used to take groups including one of my older brothers to Paris for the weekend, to see very special rugby internationals between the famous French and Wales rugby teams.

Time to go back even further, and another 'do you remember' moment.
Some when, it may well have been around 1974ish, a TV company put on an afternoon film that featured a garage, might have been in France, with a family driving up and generally buying stuff. Must have been about half an hour long and I'm guessing again that it was a colour test film. It was on every day.
About that time I was working for Southern Rentals (Burgess Hill) and recall it on the TV's.

EDIT
I love Google. Within minutes I'd found the name of the film.

And it was exactly as I remember it.

Best thing about Crown Court was the fictional name of the town in which is was meant to take place, Fulchester, which became famous later on as the club for which Billy The Fish played, Fulchester United.

I can't remember that, but BBC2 in the late 60's and early 70's on weekday afternoons often played this 'groovy' short film.

As an infant living in the simple world of Sussex, I was mesmised by the futuristic monorail etc.

I loved doing it. Had a couple of really interesting cases. All feels like a bit of a game at the time, until you have to stand up and give the verdict....all becomes very real then (defence barrister asked for bail, Judge looks at him sternly and says ‘I beg your pardon ? Your client has just been convicted of xxxxx and poses a clear danger to the public. Absolutely not’)

The CPS barrister in the first case I did was absolutely brilliant. He utterly dismantled the defendant piece by piece over 4 days, it was brutal to watch, but very clever.

I had a similar experience with a prosecution barrister in a drugs trial I was on the Jury for in Winchester. Six defendants, and when the one who was most obviously guilty came to be cross-examined, this nice gentle civilised man tore him limb from limb. No TV drama could ever come close.

He was the only one found guilty. Each defendant had his own barrister, so there was one prosecuting barrister on the fromt row, and 10 barristers in the remainder of the barristers area.

All the films shown were made by BP hence there is a lot of shots of the BP logo. Pure advertising on the BBC.

A funny old arrangement wasn’t it, getting their films shown for free on BBC. Another quirk of our childhood like rag n bone men, french onion men and reading physical books that today’s youth wouldn’t believe.

Not BP, but another one I recall (I was only tiny) was a US or Canadian mini film on the making and use of AL-UM-INIUM. Being American it seemed very colourful, sunny and glamorous compared to grey Britain.
