I am quite suprised at how underwhelmed quite a few people seem to be. Gus has said that he made Crofts out MAIN midfield target this season and most of us moaned about how Bridcutt was often over run and out muscled in midfield last season because we were so lightweight. I suggest that Crofts is exactly what we need but what does NSC think?

We wanted a tough tackling midfielder to bolster this area of the team and I think Crofts fits the bill. Would I have preferred Trotter? Possibly in terms of his strength and build but happy with what we have got, which is certainly a step forward.

Last season we suffered with not being able to get forward enough as our midfield and defence were not strong enough to cope. The signings this summer have been spot on and an gus and the club have done and incredible job in plugging the gaps

Crofts is a fantastic signing and just the type of physical presence we have missed. Another strong leader on the pitch will certainly not do any harm either

Add another striker and this season is looking like it could be something special

Wouldnt say im delighted, but at the same time im not underwhelmed - just happy - but went for delighted anyway as its the only positive option.

Good point, maybe a mod would be kind enough to add a "happy" option?

Im happy with crofts! As stated above, I believe because he has already played for us, you don't get that new feeling of a signing, especially as the rumours were that we were after trotter all pre season!

The lad looks stacked as f*** in his pictures, think he has a lot more muscle on him than when he first joined us.

And midfielders are very rarely big lads because they need to move around the pitch a bit. Get a powerful front man in and its job done to a very successful transfer window.

I agree. I think everyone's expectations were lifted artificially high. A, By some of the names being thrown around. B, By bridge signing.

I guess there is that nagging doubt about the whole going back taboo. But it's undoubtably the kind of player we need in midfield.

I am glad to see him back.

People tend to get excited about names they know little about. But not us, we are Brighton from the south and we are over the moon because we know Crofts is top drawer, the nazz. Gus agrees as well

I'm in that happy/pleased bracket that has been omitted.

Much as I'd have been delighted if Trotter had been unveiled, I'd have that nagging doubt that he might only play well occasionally. Crofts is and has always been consistent.

How soon is now?
I've always subscribed to "never go back", but with this player I think its different. He was great for us first time around, he's been off and got Championship and Premier Lge experience and potentially we've got him back at around the prime of his career. I think its excatly what Bridcutt needs to help him in the middle of the park, and a midfield 4 of Crofts, Bridcutt, Vicente and any one of Buckley, Noone or Lua Lua should give us enough creativity. Crofts also chips in with a few goals, and that can only be a good thing. It doesn't bode well for Harley and Sparrow(i'm not a great fan of either) as I think Dicker will be the guy on the bench covering the midfield.

I think he's exactly what our midfield was missing last season, pleased to see him back.
