Crofts for Captain?

I am fed up with watching Adam 'the £1.5 man' Virgo just hoof the ball into the opponents half. Drop him, bring on Tunnicliffe and make Crofts captain. He was the only player who gave 100% for the entire game. There was a moment in the second half where Dicker was screaming blue murder at Virgo to move into the space but he just hung back looking to deliver the non-existent 80 yrd pass. Virgo is clueless unless it comes to getting your head on the end of a high ball. No chance of causing himself any damage with one of those!!!

I have this sinking feeling of deja vu. I was against Wilkins dismissal but not displeased that Adams came in only for him to disappoint spectacularly. No we have Slade whose judgement must be in question for a) appointing Virgo as captain and b) for selecting Navarro today, a player who hasn't had the hint of a good game for the club this season.

I am coming round to the view that Slade must go for the sake of the club but who we will get in I don't have a clue.

Bryan Robson did alright as a midfield captain, as did Nobby and Danny Wilson a bit closer to home.

Indeed, and might encourage us to pass with a bit more confidence like he does. Elphick does care and seems like a nice guy, but he has been woefully inconsistent pretty much since Wilkins left.

The main problem with Virgo as a player is that he doesn't get his head up when he has the ball at his feet. Hence he often struggles to find a pass and resorts to hoofing. I suspect his head down attitude is to compensate for general poor bad contol - he cant move the ball with his feet unless he is looking at the ball. Its more difficult to comment on his captaincy skills unless you are in the team as you can't tell what he is like in the dressing room or how vocal he is on the pitch.

I personally thought it hilarious that Virgo moved onto the right side start of second half, I yelled at him to move back, he points towards the bench so i yell ignore them at which point he laughs and moves back into center, i dunno if that was another order from the bench but you have to wander what was going through the minds of slade and white when they thought sticing virgo at right back and hoyte in the center would achieve, virgo also did f*** all as captain, he was silent today
