I saw Airdrieonians quite a few times in the 90’s at the old Broomfield Park, with the quaint Edwardian pavilion in the corner. My ex-gf’s Dad took me, probably just a 1,000 of us rattling around in there. I was genned up on their staunch Protestant history (back in the day). We also went to Albion Rovers sizeable concrete bowl of a stadium just a mile away, but then with crowds of just 250, the lowest in any of the English and Scottish ‘professional’ leagues. Both clubs suffering from the lure of Rangers and Celtic.

Never got too Broomfield ,only ever seemed to do away games ,Cup games Hibs away on a Tuesday night League Cup QF 2 1 away win where the segregation just fell apart . By half time one of the guys [Millwall fan ] had enough and went back to the bus we travelled on:lolol:Had a few good days out at Hampden for Semis and Finals . Religion a very Protestant town ,my mates took me to the Orange lodge for an afternoons entertainment . Very eye opening for a good Catholic boy

I recently found out that there is a team in the Finnish premier league called SJK. Those are my initials, therefore they have immediately become my 2nd team.

If your're ever up in better times ,i'm happy to have a beer or 2

I go occasionally with a mate. What's with the drummer in the home end, a different one in each half? I hate drums at footy but they are both very good indeed. Army connection perhaps?

Probably working!
Who were these two playing if not another MLB/NBA team?
I have already asked this, see post 19.
8049 hasn’t answered the question though!
Were they playing each other in a hybrid basketball baseball game in an attempt to make these sports even a little bit exciting?

No army connections involved with the drummer . Rock and roll Steve ,one of the drummers is an old rockabilly who i went to school with and is a talented musician . Scott the other drummer is a young lad who has taken over the mantel. Not sure how it started.

I did answer earlier but a hybrid game would have been good. I supported the home team in both games although I supposed I had the choice of the Minnesota Twins and Utah Jazz. I enjoyed the baseball but the basketball was deeply boring.

In my case it's Staines Town, Derby County and Arsenal.

Staines because that was the town where l was born, and l cut my football supporting teeth watching my local team play in the Spartan, Athenian, and then Isthmian leagues. Indeed they had were very successful at non league level for a few years.

Derby County because an uncle, Jack Nicholas played for them, indeed he captained their 1946 FA Cup winning side beating Charlton Athletic 4-1 at Wembley.

Arsenal, because my dad was a life long gooner, and he took me to my first professional game, against Coventry City l seem to remember, back in the late 1960's

My first viewing football experience was from rolling under the match day canvas sheeting surrounding the pitch in Buckingham Park, Shoreham. They have remained a favourite team to this day.
When I spent part of my life living in France, although close to and occasionally watching Montpellier, the team that fascinated me was Auxerre. This was mainly because of the man who is probably the longest serving one club manager ever. Guy Roux served for 44 years and took them from non-league to the Champions League. Here is his story with one blip early on.

Carmarthen coz I live near and watch when I cannot get to the Amex. Lens French ligue 1 as I bought some cheap shirts off E bay to cycle in ! Wimbledon 1st match I ever saw, so I'm told. Strangely in almost any game in England Scotland I can have a preference, possibly weird.

I have a soft stop for Carmarthen too. They offered me a job on football manager and a hundred hours or so later, and we’re making champions league knockout stages...not quite able to win it, but we came pretty far.

I wish, they were relegated last year, they were also in the relegation places the year before but another club was naughty so they got away with it! Let me know if you win it for us. Up the Old Gold.

For football, I only support the mighty Shrimps of Brighton. Come on you Dolphins!

For cricket, I support Surrey but will more likely go to a (nearer) Sussex game as I like them, too.

I used to support the Harlequins for rugby, but went off the game when it turned pro.

If the Brighton Tigers ice hockey team still existed, I’d support them. Bring back the Tigers!

I keep an eye out for Werder Bremen as some good friends of mine live there, and the Toronto Raptors after jumping on the bandwagon a couple of years ago. Nothing comes close to the Albion though.

Well they gave a lot of love last season when they beat Geelong in Geelong

Ah, there ain't no hate like a non-Geelong supporter living in Geelong. :lolol::lolol:

I would say that 'lot of love' would need to be qualified with 'in compared to the last 10 years' :lolol:

Carlton must be on the rise soon though.
