and hopefully they will be thrown out of the country, never able to return and never able to set foot on a cricket pitch again.

Correct verdict

I know we didn't get the whole evidence but didn't the paper who broke the story even have someone telling the reporter what over and ball would be the no-ball, then this happening.

How can the jury only be a majority decision?

Correct decision IMO, feel that this is just the tip of the iceberg and many more to follow across all sports, sad but just a reflection on how much money there is to be made with gambling being so lucrative if you have "insider info"

They were both unanimously found to have conspired to cheat - that much was obvious. The majority verdict was the Butt had accepted corrupt payments (i.e. he was paid to cheat) - they still haven't decided on Asif, presumably because none of the marked money given by the journalist was found in Asif's room.

Good. Greedy bastards. Hope they're banned for life.

I don't think Pakistan will miss them that much as they've got some excellent young cricketers in Hafeez, Gul, Akmal and Misbah. They did well against Sri Lanka in the recent test series and will be a tough test for England in January.

Mohammed Amir had the potential to be Pakistan's best fast bowler since Akram and Waqar Younis. They will absolutely miss him.

What a waste of a promising career. I know cricketers don't get anywhere near the amount footballers do but if they do well they're heroes over there with the country's passion for the sport.

BBC News - Pakistan cricketers and agent jailed for betting scam

Former Pakistan cricket captain Salman Butt has been jailed for 30 months for his part in the conspiracy to bowl deliberate no-balls in last year's Test match against England.

Former world number two Test bowler Mohammad Asif was jailed for one year and bowler Mohammad Amir has been sentenced to six months.

Cricket agent Mazhar Majeed was jailed for two years and eight months.

I couldn't care less about losing Butt and Asif, but Mohammad Amir is a really frustrating one. Such a talent and potential, thrown away at an early age.

He cheated for money and got caught. 6 months is not long enough.

them cricketers

would you be given that much time if you killed someone while driving while drunk or using a mobile? when there's money involved, straight in the jug you go, makes you fuckin sick, if any bookie is greedy/stupid enough to take bets on no balls, time of throw ins and other shite that has no real impact on the final outcome of a match they get all they deserve
