Can anyone give me some pointers ? I've only ever played at school (25 years ago) but wouldn't mind playing a bit at a very low level, just to give me something to do during the summer.

I'm fairly sure I'd be a bit shit to start with, so really just a bit of fun, what's the best way to get into it ? None of my mates play, so I'd literally be in my own turning up ! Any ideas ?

Also I'm surprised there's never been a REMF cricket match !

Check out Southwick Wanderers CC on line for more details , ( not to be confused with those superstars at Southwick cc :) ).

Our Club are always looking for keen social players. We run two teams most sundays, we have a variety of players ranging from not bad to not very good but we do enjoy our cricket etc. We have nets at Lancing College on friday evenings. A few BHA amongst us. Playour matches around Sussex, home is Upper Beeding.

Our website is Beeding And Bramber CC .

Nets, no need for whites. Matches whites would be nice. Your own box is medically useful! We do have pads, gloves, bats but again if likely to get keen your own would be an advantage!

Must have played both Tay and Eddie. I play for Chailey on Sundays.

You would remember my pace , or lack of it , and a huge hole on the batting crease after taking my guard that in retrospect i should'nt ever bother taking , play Chailey regular so no doubt

You would remember Tay, doesn't wear a cricket hat fielding, and doesn't wear a helmet batting, just a green beenie.
Also when they ask the bowlers name when he comes on 3rd change, they all know him a Zimmer.

Putting yourself down there Taylor. Dangerous bowler. And can hit the ball a long way. Mostly on the leg side mind

Dave, I play at Staplefield. 2 pubs on the green, great wicket, good bunch of blokes and mixed abilities, basically from the really shite to the not so bad shite. Saturday is league cricket and laid back to the point your lying down and Sunday is friendly cricket, proper village stuff. Nets at Ifield school each Sunday morning at 10am.

I will watch this thread closely. As well as taking up running this year, I'm also thinking of taking up cricket once the sun comes out. I've also never played since school, but that's just 10 years ago for me

I'm the vice skipper of Southwick Wanderers cricket club and we are always on the look out for any new people wanting to play, regardless of previous experience or ability. We are a fun club that don't take things to seriously and try our best to get all our players involved in the game as much as possible. Its a great way to spend a summer Sunday afternoon. Our indoor nets start on the 24th of Feb at Plumpton College between 6 and 7 PM if you fancy a bit of practise.

I have played for the wanderers for 20 years and been involved in games against all the teams on this thread. To be fair they are all good fun, you'll enjoy playing for any of them!
