I was only messing.
Despite being from Horsham I have a soft spot for Crawley Town.
Used to go over to evening games a fair bit at Town Meade and been along this season to the Aldershot home game.
Id love to see Crawley in the league.

I don't think anyone willl catch Barnet this season so it would have to be through the play offs. With 12 games to go it's possible but theres not much to choose between the teams placed 2 - 13. Perm any 4 from 12 !
Crawley have signed Joe Healy on loan from Millwall for an initial months loan - might just be the boost we need for the remaining games.

It would appear that the Woking stewards / police overreacted to him being a bit pissed off with the referee at the end of the game.
No further action being taken. He was cautioned and released.

CRAWLEY TOWN FC STATEMENT - 1.30pm
The statement made by the club last night was intentionally brief and to the point as we did not wish to elaborate on the events and hoped that we could bring this unfortunate incident to a conclusion.
By not outlining the facts this has only given scope for speculation and rumour-mongering and the club have issued the following statements to bring this matter to an end.
Statement by Francis Vines (First Team Manager)
I am sure most of you will by now have heard and read of the events of yesterday’s match against Woking and in particular those surrounding my removal from the ground by the police present at the match.
There has already been much speculation about what happened and as the stories seem to be escalating I wanted to make a single statement, giving the facts, to help put an end to this matter.
During the match Sacha [Opinel] was sent off and I was disappointed by this, as in my opinion without the benefit of watching the match video this was a harsh decision.
When Sean [Hankin] was then sent off for getting involved in a tussle with their number 17 [Luke Oliver], I was however annoyed. I felt it was an unfair decision as both parties were involved, contrary to some of the pictures since shown.
As I had left the dug-out area, a steward nearby grabbed hold of my arm and pulled me away, despite me not approaching the linesman and in fact being some 15 feet away. I shrugged him off and asked him not to touch me. No abusive or foul language was used.
Once the game was over I went to see the referee on the pitch, he told me to come and see him inside in half an hour, at which point I turned around and went to walk inside. Again, there were no words exchanged.
As I walked to the tunnel I saw the steward who had previously grabbed me and told him not to ever touch me again. It was childish, I know, and this is truthfully the only part of the events that I regret. He replied that he would if he had to and of course still being wrapped up in the post-match tension I retorted “No you won’t”. Again, there were no raised hands or voices and it could not even be said he felt threatened by my size as he was some few inches taller than me.
I was then asked to move on by the police who happened to be there or I would be arrested. This I did without further words being exchanged. I did not approach or find the referee as he had asked me to go to see him in half an hour, so I went into the away dressing room to wait for the players to come in.
The police then came into the dressing room some three to five minutes later and arrested me for using abusive or insulting words, I was not handcuffed and I was escorted to Woking Police Station.
At the station the allegation made was that I had said to the steward that I “would knock his block off”. I hadn’t said this at all. However upon advice from a solicitor and a desire to go home and put this sorry affair behind me, I accepted the caution and was released.
I accepted the caution as I wanted to go home. I have not had a single encounter with the police in my 43 years and nor do I plan to again and so accepting the caution had few real consequences for me. I did not want to waste further time or money pursuing this.
I hope we can now move on from this and look only forward to the remainder of this season.
Statement from Steve Duly (Managing Director)
We are all staggered by the events yesterday.
Francis and I have worked closely together over the last two years of his control of the club and the allegations are totally alien to his manner and demeanour.
The club will be taking no further action against Francis, as we believe that his actions were no different to hundreds of managers and coaches up and down the country on any given Saturday.
In my personal opinion yesterday’s events have set a very dangerous precedent for football, and I will be an interested observer if and when the next manager is arrested at Woking Football Club or in fact any other ground in the country for actions or behaviour at the same level as shown by Francis yesterday.
This statement brings to a close any comment that the club and Francis wish to make, and we would appreciate that this request is respected.

1 point separates 7 teams in the Conference and while Crawley head those 7 teams, they have played 2 or 3 games more than everyone else. They need to improve on the road if they're going to stay in the top 5 .

The numbers were because they were expecting a BIG CROWD, not trouble. Unfortunately, the Crawley Observer printed the threat of trouble story and refused to apologise for it.

That's not actually true though is it? Of those 6 teams within a point of Crawley we have played 1 more than 3 of them, 2 more than 1 of them and 3 more than the other 2.Simster said:

Crawley can only play their games when they are told. If that means they've played more than others so be it. They are second because they've earned the right to be there.
We will enjoy our moment. If anyone had said a year ago, when we were 2nd in the DMLP to Weymouth that this time next year we'd be 2nd in the Conference people would have laughed in their face. Now we are just laughing because we can't believe it.
