Could somebody with some actual knowledge ion the subject let me know just what the hell is going on at Crawley at the moment? They have a rich consortium that currently owns them, right? But if they're so rich why have they chosen crawley and not an established football league team?

Because he is a lifelong supporter? Bit like Tony Bloom I suppose.

But if they're so rich why have they chosen crawley and not an established football league team? Crawley have always been a pretty mundane non-league team with no history of big gates, no history of any kind really as far as I'm aware. Are the consortium expecting to make their money back through future large gates? I don't get it!
There are rumours of money laundering going around, yet you'd have to say Crawley does have potential.

Sounds to me like a ploy to get both Pires & Crawleys names in the press.

I read an interview with Pires the other day saying he still thinks he could do a job in the prem.

Crawley: "Can I help you, Mr Pires?"
Pires: "Yes, please. I'm looking for Gatwick Airport".
Crawley: "It's just up the road".
Pires: "Thank you".

Yeah right.

As if a footballer would ever say 'please' or 'thank you'

I wouldn't have thought he would be in talks with Crawley as I read in the Football League paper on sunday that he was training with Arsenal with the plan of getting a trial at QPR. If he's aiming at playing for a top championship side why would he start talks with a non-league team a couple of days later?

Difficult to see Pires pitching up at Crawley isn't it.

Mind you, they do have that GIANT football on that roundabout. You've got to admit its impressive.

This has all been just a big mistake. The original story was supposed to be: Crawley in talks with Roberts' Pies, the well-known Crawley pie-maker.
