Stuart Taylor maybe, perpetual understudy so no idea how crap he is, didn't cover himself in glory at Cardiff though.

Greening is a decent player, captained WBA to the Premiership fairly successfully - obviously not Champions league quality but hardly crap, I'd rate him above a fair few of the Liverpool Champions League winning squad. He is also less crap than the likes of Luke Chadwick, Djemba-Djemba, etc. who completely failed to establish themselves at lower Premiership teams.

I also find myself disagreeing with a lot of those above, seems I like to look for the best in much denigrated footballers

Christophe Dugarry was an awful player that somehow played for some fantastic clubs winning a host of silverware

Dugarry was pretty good, wasn't he? Maybe I've been influenced on this by growing upin Birmingham because Birmingham fans legend-worship himas a result of him practically keeping them in the Premiership singlehandedly (and that was when he was 30/31?).

On that same theme, Stephan Guivarche (sp) who also won the world cup in 1998.

Is that based on 4 games (including 1 goal) for Newcastle, playing for a clueless manager who didn't sign him and ? Or are you also taking into account him winning the Golden Boot in 96-97, 97-98 and in the 97-98 UEFA Cup?

Victor Valdes of Barcelona is a very average keeper lucky to play in a great side that have won a lot.

He was schooled at Barcelona, in the Barcelona style, and accordingly is one of the best sweeper keepers around, which is why he kept above average keepers like Enke out of the team - a lot of traditionally good keepers would struggle to fit in at Barcelona, Enke's biography goes into this a bit.

Bramble is also generally a pretty solid defender, albeit prone to making some high-profile mistakes which the soccer am crowd like to pick up on. He was brilliant at Wigan week-in week-out.

Jensen was also a relatively good defensive midfielder, just a victim of everyone expecting him to be a goal scoring machine after the goal he scored during for Denmark.
