Can you settle a pointless argument on the 'our squad' thread.

Craig Noone the player.

When the business was done, did you think we won or lost on the deal.

I would have a look for some threads to back up my point that it wasn't a vocal few who thought we was robbed, but I'm in the middle of something.

This isn't about Noone the fella, top bloke and all, that is not up for debate.
Purely football at the time of the move, so not with hindsight, was it good or bad for the club

We made a decent profit on him. It was a good deal for everyone especially for Nooney.

At the time a good deal, I still wouldn't take him back (maybe now though, as we have Ulloa). He simply had no end product under Gus.

Said good luck to him when he went. Pity it hasn't worked out so well at Cardiff.

Should have stayed at a big club.

His head had been turned. I don't think there was a lot that the Club could do about it, except go with the flow and get as much as they could for him.

Won.

We got 1.8 million for a fringe player, at a time when we had 3 wingers and Gus only played 1

More than paid for Orlandi, and (unfortunately) Dobbie.

Noone also doubled his wages, Cardiff go up. it's a win win for everyone.

biggest loss to the side since Bennett, good business but really should have kept.

The deal for Noone was a good deal for the club and for him but we should have replaced him with somebody good enough for the bench at least. Perhaps in the long term we have with Dickinson but he isn't ready yet.

How's he doing at Cardiff now? It seemed he could do no wrong for them when he signed (much to my bemusement).

At the time my initial thoughts were that as much as I liked nooney as a person he was the least consistent and "worst" of our three wingers. As we were only playing one at the time I thought it was decent business as we didn't need three. Not much has changed.
