Craig Maskell & Paul McDonald

Did anyone see Soccer Masters on Sky last weekend. They played five-a-side for Southampton (alongside Fat Le Tiss who was class) and looked absolutely crap. A reminder of why we struggled so much. McDonald in particular couldn't beat an 80 year old granny.

They got thrashed by a Spurs side that included Terry Gibson who looked like a bald 15 stone dwarf.

The funniest player was Martin Kuhl playing for Portsmouth (ex Portsmouth, always used to do well against us). He was about 20 stone and was sweating like a pig, still had good skill though.

i always thought craig maskell got a bit of a raw deal really. i know he was a bit crap and often couldn't hit a barn door, but he must have scored about 15 goals THAT season for a truly awful side.

and just think, had that post at Hereford been a couple of inches to the left, he'd have kept us in the Football League with one of the best goals of the season!!

On the other hand, Paul MacDonald is, was, and always will be total shite.

McDonald had one trick, the feint and jink in side, had skill but not worth the 60 odd K we paid for him.

Maskell, although a wimp, did score some absolutely vital goals for us, header against already promoted Wigan in the 1-0 win at Goldstone was one example, if him and Baird could have scored away from home that season we'd have been alright, but he can hold his head up high from his time at BHA.

Great dive for the penalty!!!

(Although we should have had one just on the stroke of h/t, McDonald blantantly brought down by their keeper)

Sorry to sound like a geek, but Wigan weren't actually champions when we played them (and destroyed them to be honest). They were runaway leaders though...........retires back into his nerdy shell......;)

I didn't mean to knock either contribution (particularly Maskell) for 'that' season. I was just making a point about how out of place they looked against Premiership/high quality first division players of their day.

after the fan's united game, some wolves fans phoned 606 saying they thought Mcdonald was worth £1 million!

yeah i know, in comparison to the Le Tissier's of their day, they were hopeless (anyone else remember seeing him play for us in Jimmy Case's testimonial?).

i just got strangely nostalgic about the bad old days of pitch invasions, weeds in the east stand and jason peake.

I thought Paul McDonald was quality - i ended up sponsoring him!! Remember him getting flattened by the big shite Moore? on the last game against Doncaster before Bairdy decided to have a fight and they both got sent off - doing us a hige favour because the big man looked unbeatable!

Yeah that was clear cut, Luke Weaver fouled him right in front of the North Stand, god knows why it wasnt given, that was the day Nicky Rust played himself out of the clubs plans for ever....

BG didn't say that Wigan were champions when we played them, did he? He just said they were already promoted.

Anyway, I thought it was Fulham that won the title that season?

Bit unfair to compare them with players in the then presmier League. They were plying their trade in the worst professional team in the country, so a difference in class is hardly suprising.

And if you thought Paul Macdonald was s**te you needed your eyes testing. Now iof we are talking shite pkayers of the 95-97 era, Jason Peake must top the polls.

Craig Maskell top scored that season with 15 (next season Kerry Mayo was joint top scorer!!!!!!) and he did score THAT hattrick on Fans United day

Jason Peake was one of the worst players ever to wear the stripes. The galling thing was he cost over £100,000.

Maskell and McDonald were good in that poor team

Without maskells goals were would we have been? Saw him playing Ryman League footie last season.

As for worst players, nothing will beat the ineptitude of.....

ASHLEY NEAL

remember him.....

I remember that. The Donny players took a banner around the ground before the game saying, "Doncaster Players Salute Brighton Fans" and then when Moore got sent off some :censored: in the West Stand threw a banana at Moore. It was sickening

Proof that Albion have a few complete & utter :censored: supporting the club
