Think that bad injury really did for him. Never the same after that. A real shame as he was a quality player and seems an all round decent bloke.

Pretty much this really. A nice guy and an ex near neighbour of mine, not that I saw too much of him down at the local Co-Op!

Remember going down to Cardiff for a night game early season in his first year with us. We won, I think 2-0, might have been 3. Anyway, he had an absolute blinder. (As an aside, Hoskins came on & scored a good goal as well). People were coming out of that game raving about him, saying he was a bargain.
His game was based a lot on running & closing down defenders, which made me knackered just watching. After his injury he was never the same, which in turn led to his confidence being shot to bits probably. Shame, but we mustn't forget that he was a very good player, & his signing at the time was a huge boost when a lot of clubs were in for him after his Posh exploits.

I think the pre-injury CMS would have done well in our current team. Post injury, he's just not the same.

It's not his fault, the manager isn't playing to his strengths!

He did actually have an OK scoring record with us pre injury, and all games were played in a conservative 4-5-1 formation bar 1 game where he and Ulloa paired up.

I enjoyed that match Cardiff were early favourites for the title. We totally outclassed them. Barnes wonder goal and Hoskins looked great.

I was there for that. We ran them ragged that day. Think it was 3-1 and to be honest Im putting it above the Peterboro 3-0 (they had 10 men so its a bit clouded) and the 4-0 v Charlton because it was in the champ against a very good, well established Champ side. i was there for those as well btw.

Anyway I think it wasnt injuries there are two defining moments re CMS and why his confidence is shot...

Against Burnley at home, that golden chance in the last min that he fluffed.

Away at Palace, we are down to 10 men (thanks Dunk) score 1-0 to Palace, early in 2nd half played thru (the killer ball that apparantly been waiting years for) thru on goal keeper to beat. Here we go songs to be made of the 10 men at Palace getting a draw...and he missed. Badly.

Murray dives for pen moments later 2-0 Palace. Not complaining he did it for us.

Forwards that can't control a ball tend to be quite shit, especially when the pace has gone.
