Craig Davies - What has he done wrong?

He needs the reserves season to start ASAP. If he can get a few goals for the stiffs then he might just get a chance, but it's up to him to prove that he knows where the goal is.

I seem to remember him getting loads of grief on here "can't hit a barn door" "will never score" "why play him" etc. How times change

That was mostly from the mugs on here who can't see beyond a couple of missed chances & don't believe a player or a manager may need a bit of a run before they settle in.

I agree - he was always in the position to score last season and had loads of chances, and those are good things. The conversion rate goes up with confidence. Trouble is we had to get things moving last season with so few games left - so it was right to take him out of the team. If he is still low on confidence he may need reserve games to get going this season - shame there are so few

Come on lets not rewrite history. He had 14 starts and scored exactly ONE goal. He missed about 6 virtual open goals and his misses could have had the repercusions of us going down and playing division 4 football so its all quite serious really. Slade saw he was a liablity and wisely dropped him before it was too late. With us at the arse end of the league again he cannot now afford a luxury like Davies. He may get a run out mid season if we are mid table but Slade cannot take the risk of Davies hitting a chance 2 yards out with an open goal over the bar. Harsh but Fair.

I rest my case!

14 starts in a row is " a bit of a run " and " a couple " of missed chance ", er NO. Adams brought him and he is not very good. Its a simple as that. Slade obviously sees that as he can't even get in the 16 when fully fit.

Many thanks, I think it was due to the fact that you seem to take a fairly instant dislike to a player or manager & from there on, in your eyes,it is impossible for them to ever be anything else than utter turd.
Yes he missed some chances last year, but saying he would have cost us relegation is over reaction in the extreme. Imo his overall contribution to the team, other than his dip in form in front of goal, was better than some of the "utter turd" we had in the team at the time & as an impact sub or even with a starting place, I believe he has something to offer.

I can see him going on loan to Port Vale, but if he does go out on loan to anyone, unless Slade replaces him with a quality experienced forward I'll be concerned about our striker options over the next 2 months

Are people suggesting that he should be picked in preference to Dickenson or Forster or as well as. Same old story as the argument about Dicker we do not see him in training. I would sooner that we got Murray fit and he made a conscious effort to impress between now and Christmas in order that we may be able to sell him in January if needed.

Yeah. I felt bad for him last year, he was getting into position it just wasn't happening, and I would like to see him given a chance, see if he can get one or two to find some confidence, but the amount of love he is now getting on here is really quite vexing.

I see him as a better option of the bench than Hart

Funny you should say that as we need a striker, and his name has been mentioned on a Vale site tonight. I wonder if we will be taking another one off your hands?

On a tangent, both Fraser and Loft have settled well - Loft was star man yesterday. Fraser still needs a bit of fitness having missed pre-season but looks decent enough.
