You’re very own El Pres is probably better placed to explain the detail to you but, in layman’s terms, we spent hugely on a couple of players which worked in so far as we are still playing in the Premier League but has tied our hands financially going forward.

You ask where is all our money going from the EPL? Its wages.

Palace paid BIG wages to a few new players some year back (Benteke being one) and this led to the rest of the team demanding wage increases. Add to the the increases given to Zaha, plus the Premier League wage cap, that's now been removed, Palace needed to balance their books, hence the sale of Wan-Bissaka and the lack of expensive purchases.
