Glasner is a totally unremarkable appointment, his record in the Bundesliga was OK with a good showing in Europe but all his experience lay in Germany managing a largely German team and in a very familiar environment. I Can't see dropping him into the depths of a relegation battle in the PL with zero experience or history here bringing anything other than failure, Mark my words this will be a thing if beauty to watch as Palace plummet into much deserved obscurity.

Steve Cooper, Graham Potter, now Glasner. The list of potential Palace managers goes on and on! It's almost as if they are making it up as they go along – didn't they approach someone else recently who told them where to go?

Palace's issues aren't limited to manager.
Glasner will not be able to single-handedly turn Palace's fortunes around.

They have a decent first 11, but nothing much behind that.

Palace fans are screaming for the academy players to be given a shot.
They see their U23s getting good results and think that means they're ready for the first team.

But as we well know, it isn't as easy as that.

Young players have to be managed closely.
Very few of them can come in and play 38 games a season.

Hinshelwood and Ferguson are very much the exceptions.

As harsh as it seems to sack, I'm sorry, have Roy "step down" from his hospital bed, it's hard to see what else Palace was supposed to do.

How about not letting everyone know they had lined up their next manager and were about to sack Roy in the first place?

If I was a Palace fan my my main concern would be whether Glasner can hit the ground running. They have a number of "winnable" matches coming up but then a tough run-in, so if they drop points over the next few weeks whilst adjusting to the next system they will have problems.

On the face of it, this is not a natural fit. From what I've read Glasnet likes to play 3 at the back and wing-backs, whereas Hodgson always played a flat back 4 with the Andersen - Guehi pairing absolutely key. Will he try and shoehorn in Rob Holding? What will new right-back signing Munoz be thinking?

There's no denying that Glasner's CV is decent, but this is the Premier League. Normally if you want to change style you must give the manager time - Potter only won 6 out his first 29 Prem matches. Maybe Palace are willing to gamble that Luton will not sustain their improvement and that 35 points might be enough to survive? That would mean 11 points from 14 matches which is similar to the 12 they've taken from their previous 14.

We are on this thread, discussing Palace's new appointment. With only 14 games to go, Glasner has to get them playing pretty quickly. A relegation fight is looming.

Earlier today, I was on a thread, entitled 'Would you take 7th place, if offered now?'. 23% of respondents to the poll, including me, said 'no'.

I feel some Palace fans may be being a bit premature - they're referring to Glasner as 'Glazza' and 'Legend'. See the replies to the tweet in post 2384.

Absolutely this. I just can't get what others see in Hodgson. He was utter utter garbage as the England manager and even worse at Liverpool. Probably the only half decent job he did was at Fulham.

I would say describing taking over a struggling Fulham in the relegation places, keeping them at a respectable placing in the PL and taking them to a Europa League final as "only half-decent" is mealy-mouthed in the extreme.
That's actually more than RDZ has done so far..................................

Palace are stepping into the 'play more exciting/expansive football part of their cycle once more. This is usually quite fun for us and the prospect of Roy not coming back to save them is rather fun too.

It is a curious one - I suspect as a summer appointment with a pre-season and some signings behind him, Glasner might’ve been a half decent appointment (or at least showing a bit of originality compared to usual). But as the man to steady the ship as they head into the business end of the season? Feels a massive gamble on him having the desired impact, and fast.
