True or not, it’s going to look pretty classless to sack an elderly man from his job while he’s supposedly recovering from some sort of health issue.
According to the BBC Sport website, "the Austrian left the club at the end of the season with a year still left on his contract, following a 10-match winless run in the Bundesliga."So do we reckon this possible new coach is any good? How comes he left Frankfurt after winning them a European trophy?
I agree.Same - but this is them - and nothing surprises me!
I'd imagine there's been a narrowing of expectations as jobs have come and gone.for the lad.Seems he was available at the beginning of this season.
Why wasn't he offered the job back then?
I suspect a Europa League winning manager thought he was well above Crystal PalaceSeems he was available at the beginning of this season.
Why wasn't he offered the job back then?
Why feel sorry for a manager because their new job will be in challenging circumstances? This will be fascinating. Feel sorry for the new guy. Straight in at the deep end with the best players Injured.
The other gamble is, should they stay up as most expect, next season the PL is going to be significantly stronger with Leicester, Leeds & Saints are likely to be promoted. Those finishing bottom half this season will really need to up their game next season. So whoever they get in needs to counter that.a gamble on a couple of levels :
can he turn them around and keep them up with more comfort than they currently have - or will his methods not stop the rot in the games coming up where they need points : Everton, Burnley, Forest and Lutoncurrent "talented" players see enough in him to try and convince them to stay..If the anticipated fire-sale of talent happens in the summer , this will fund the new players in the summer (plus whatever else has been "promised") and his pedigree may attract players keen to work with him (as an individual in the PL rather than because it's palace specifically)IF they were to be relegated, and I, like many, just don't quite see that unfortunately, then the re-build can happen under the radar .. either way, it appears bizarre to have waited so long suggesting that the panic button has been hit. His reported spikiness will appeal to the hooded-goons but wouldnt appear to sit well for any PL club who can't spend and ultimately compete on the same levels as the bigger clubs. This is their throw of the dice to be more like us! . Cue a short-term love-in that could go either way!
Its what Parish does, whenever HE is under pressure from the angry Palace mob - blame his incumbent manager, for his own pisspoor stewardship of the club.Roy was just what Palace needed after the de Boer debacle. He kept them up against the odds and by the time he retired he had an impressive average of 1.228 points per game. Since his return he is sadly yesterday's man and has only managed a lowly 1.243 points per game. Oh hang on, that's more isn't it? Why are they sacking him?
Football is a cutthroat business, but as with Vieira, Palace are not really in trouble. The whineging minority of their fans have scared the horses and the ownership's blinked once again. For years Parrish spent no money on players for Hodgson. He ran down his squad without offering contracts, then forced him into a retirement he obviously didn't want. He then spent loads for the new bloke, before going back cap in hand to Roy when he had his last relegation panic. Now this disresepect. His treatment of a bloke who's done nothing but support and help him just makes me think of the way Aussies use the term 'Decidedly average' when they actually mean 'fkn disgraceful.'
