Im sure its been posted bofore, but I dont think that Cox is the right player for us on the left.

Everytime he got the ball in the attacking 3rd he cut inside and had a defender on him everytime.

I also noticed it at yoevil that he had to get the ball back on to his right foot before he could cross the ball which gave the defence a second or two extra to get back and clear the ball!

Either Cox needs to do A LOT of work on his left foot or we need to find someone who can play there!

a natural both footed player would be nice but he is young and i think he will grow into the roll. Agree though needs to have a go with his left too

The biggest problem with Cox (apart from his short mans syndrome) is he very rarely runs with the ball, he thinks that wearing the no 7 shirt he has to spray 50 yard balls all the time like Beckham, Which is a shame as he is a decent dribbler with alot of pace and can scare the shit of of defenders when he runs at them weaving in and out.

Cox cuts inside to much, instead of running down the byline and sending in a decent cross. When he runs inside, ten times out of ten he get tackled or loses the ball by doing to much with it. Maybe we should try him on the right wing, where he could be alittle more dangerous.

What's annoying is that when he runs at players, or tries to hit the byline, or goes for goal himself, he looks really good. However, he rarely does this. When he cuts inside and puts a looping cross into the middle of the area, it's predictable and the defence copes with it every single time. He does this ALL the time. You'd think that SOMEONE at the club could make him do what he's actually got the talent to do!

Lack of confidence perhaps? i know he has the ability to do really well for us but i agree he is predictable too often

I agree Cox is capable of more variety and would be a better player for it, but his cut inside and cross is not as ineffective as some seem to think. His cross is usually a good one, and we usually have chances from him even when he doesn't play that well (Forster in acres of space vs Bournemouth for example),

Aha, now that's where I'm going to take your point, and use it to KILL this argument once and for all. The chance you refer to was actually the first time Cox went outside the full back and used his LEFT foot, not the traditional cut back and right foot. It was, as a result, his first quality ball of the match. See, that chance itself proves he can do it on the outside, and isn't it ironic that the first time he tried it on Tuesday we almost scored.

i missed that what happened?

Really? Will look out for that, hopefully they show it on soccernight. Anyway we have certainly had chances and probably goals from Cox cutting in and crossing, but I entirely agree it should not be the ONLY method of getting a ball he uses.

I agree completely. I wonder who should tell him? Either he isn't being told or he isn't listening.
