Having walked to the nearest aldi and seen the mile long queue to get in, I decided to drive to waitrose. It's fair to say this will be my new shopping spot from now on, even though I got some dodgy looks for being in my workwear..

I'm not anti Jogger, but you're not going to tell me there's no risk from an out of breath person breathing heavily running past me sharing the pavement 2ft away, especially as this new variant is supposed to be much more transmissible, I've no problem with joggers keeping a reasonable distance from me, but some take the pi$$.

We always turn away, cross the road or pathway or nip into the nearest driveway if passed by walkers, joggers or cyclists. Not taking any risks at all particularly as we are so near to being vaccinated. It would be very careless to catch it now when we are lucky enough to be able to isolate at home.

It’s not ‘joggers’, it’s ‘people’. If someone is an ass when they’re in the supermarket, they’ll be an ass when they’re jogging.

I try to run on quiet country lanes at the moment.......luckily not too difficult around Burgess Hill as it’s the best way of avoiding people. Biggest bugbear for me as a jogger (and walker) is couples or families 2,3 or more abreast across a pavement coming in the opposite direction and who make literally no attempt to allow space to pass safely by dropping to single file for a bit. If I’m facing opposite the traffic direction I just jump into the road, but so many don’t. ******s.

Anyone struggling to get a supermarket delivery slot I heartily recommend switching to click and collect. Zero human contact, you don't even get out of your car. It's grrreat

We tried at a couple of Sainsbury’s but were put off by lack of a system on arrival. Needed a numbering system to avoid queue jumping. Much better organized at Tesco where there were queuing lanes to drive in to. We have no problem booking deliveries in our area so will stick with this.

Bridge car park had about a dozen cars parked in it this evening (they may still be there now). Lots of people hanging about and seemingly socialising etc. Looked like family groups doing some sort of activity. Not good.

Renowned dogging zone. Apparently.

Is there any point in further restrictions, given the sizeable minority who will simply ignore?

Unless the government declared martial law and imposes a curfew, how could further restrictions have any real affect? You just have to tell a quick lie about being an essential worker, exercising, doing an errand for someone vulnerable etc and be on your way. The selfish and the stupid will carry on as before.

At least most places are relatively clear by about 5pm now. Can you imagine what it would be like if we were in mid summer? This is why it’s so important for everyone to comply for the next month or so.

When leaving, I actually said something to a bloke not wearing a mask yesterday in local supermarket. He got a bit sneery but knew he was in the wrong / went back to his car to get a mask. Least looked like that. Pure laziness, compounded by him parking his Range Rover on double yellow outside when there’s a free car park 20 metres away. People in a hurry forget their brains sometimes. But it’s not good enough given seriousness of situation. I’ve got to shops, discovered mask isn’t in my coat pocket and so gone all the way home to get and come back. Own stupid fault, but you learn to keep one in every jacket!

Is 10% a sizable minority?

The Gov/Sage stats claim 90% follow the rules.

Don't know if it's been mentioned before, Jogger after Jogger in Lewes High Street running past open mouthed snorting and blowing out all kinds of $hit.

I do try and keep my distance from people when out jogging but every time I go out I have to pass through the middle of a huddle of dog walkers having a natter, usually at the narrowest part of the path, who make no effort to get out of the way. Ever since the start of all this dog walkers seem to have been above the rules (round here at least).

I would suggest we're all at more risk from unhealthy people rather than joggers tbh.

Likewise, we run on the seafront as we have done for years as our only hour of freedom. We have no outside space at home. We do everything we can to give people a wide berth, often weaving in and out of parked cars to run on the road at times. And, it’s not rocket science, when space is tight, we go single file.

Then you get to Hove prom, where you could literally drive 3 or 4 tanks side by side, and encounter whole families spread across virtually the entire area who give you nowhere to go and make no space.

Another particular favourite in narrower sections is couples who think that walking bang in the middle helps. Nobody can pass safely on either side. Walk on the edge, move into single file for a few yards sometimes, plenty of room for everyone. You’d have thought people would have been able to work it out by now.

As 10 % of the population runs into millions, I would say yes. More than enough to fuel a pandemic and it has been going on for months. In the late Summer people were defending beach Covidiots, football Covidiots and demonstration Covidiots. At least we don’t hear any of that anymore.

I gather Bexhill has wardens patrolling the sea front, guiding people apart from each other.

That figure is nonsense.

I remember JV-T saying in an April press conference that their estimate was that 85% were complying. At a time where it really felt the vast majority were.

The only arrogant groups ignoring it were arrogant people having elderly grandparents round (in our locality), large groups of 20 year olds doing as they pleased and a few families meeting up.

Now, in some supermarkets such as Aldi and Sainsbury’s there are significant numbers of folk under 50 proudly not wearing a mask, in our parks extensive groups of families/mates meet up for strolls, not a face mask in sight. Hove Park was heaving in recent days.
