This would mean all illegal immigrants won't get a vaccine as thy will want to stay off-radar.

How are people invited? Text? Phone call? I have no idea. Surely not through the post?

I got a letter inviting me to book at one of several centres, which I did. Then a day before my appointment I got a text inviting me to go to a different centre that very day, which I declined as I already had an appointment.

So maybe the whole thing is not entirely joined up - hardly surprising considering the numbers and logistics involved.

Anyway I feel very happy and grateful to have received my first jab, with an appointment for the second in 11 weeks.

I have called them to be fair and was told that there were some delays getting to all housebound people. They said he will be contacted soon, so not overly worried as ultimately being housebound means he's less likely to pick it up from anyone outside.

What irks me most is the Government insisting that everyone in the top 4 groups has been offered a vaccine by now :

"Everyone in the top four groups has had a jab offer and 15 million people have had a first dose, the government says."

This is demonstrably not true. I'm confident my 85 year old father will be done soon but I know of 3 other elderly people in his road who havent been called or written to yet. I know this because my wife and I are involved in the local food bank deliveries and we speak to several elderly residents each week when delivering food parcels.

His GP says he will be visited soon (and thats absolutely fine, he is more than happy to wait) but will the Government stop telling porkies that everyone has been contacted as it just isn't true.

UPDATE for the record - he has just had a phone call saying he will be visited on 25th Feb. Sorted.

Its almost as if they are getting the easy ones done first to meet the targets, surely not, especially as it appears to be a free for all now to a certain respect.

Sounds like its going infinitely faster over there. By how things are going over here its going to take forever until people are vaccinated and until things return to remotely normal... I love my comrades but partying with the same three people every week is getting kind of dull.

I'm 50. Have no serious health issues.

I got a text on Saturday morning. Responded instantly and got jabbed in the afternoon.

Very sophisticated if a scam - they used the doctor’s surgery, put something in my arm and I got a sticker and everything.

I'm 48 and have very, very mild asthma which is managed via the brown and blue inhalers. I also get invited for my yearly flu jab.
Received a text from my doctors in Worthing last Friday offering me an appointment. I received my first dose on Saturday.
No idea why I was invited so early although my local doctors surgery has a very small catchment area so maybe they are running ahead of schedule.
Felt a bit fatigued yesterday but otherwise all is OK. They will contact me nearer the time for my second dose which should be in early May.

I'm 56 with what sounds like identical asthma. Mild and managed by brown inhaler twice daily, and blue if and when I need it, and also get invited for annual flu jab. Not been contacted for my jab yet.

There’s currently a lot of confusion regarding people with asthma. Previously the guidance in January was people taking steroid inhalers and eligible for annual flu vaccination qualified. Now they have backtracked on that guidance and are saying that’s not the case and people only qualify if they have severe asthma, ie oral tablets and recent hospital visits. Asthma UK is trying to get clarification.

Also different parts of the country are moving at different speeds on numbers and groups vaccinated. Sussex was slower than the rest of the country by quite a margin in the last figures I saw published 4th February. Let’s hope we catch up.

Government have now clarified the position and it has changed from earlier announcements.

I would’ve thought being a carer for a vulnerable person classes as urgent, at this stage of the vaccination programme.

That does make sense. I'm one of those who gets an annual flu jab and the blue and brown inhalers but nothing else.
I hadn't realised there were 7m of us.

Probably have a couple more months to wait then

Same here - mild asthma all my life - blue and brown inhalers daily.

Initially i was expecting a March call up (early for my age) but I think that unless you have severe asthma then asthmatics are not treated as a special case.

Did you have the Pfizer or Oxford?

My sister in law who is 46 and has no underlying health issues has been invited for her jab at the Strand next Saturday. We are both registered at our small local doctors surgery in West Worthing which hasn't the room to administer the vaccines themselves.

Seems a similar story to me: 49, no medical issues (other than old asthma - so mild I’ve not actually even owned an inhaler for years now) and invited today.

I’m at Lime Tree in Findon but mine will be at Durrington Health Centre.

Its like Christmas all over again West Sussex had that and the vaccine is available to everybody before the over 75's are finished over here

Okay, thanks for the detail.
I thought you may have been offered Pfizer, because of the storage and they needed to shift it quick.
I asked as I am approaching the top side of my mid fifties and have a milder form of asthma, and need the brown one daily, with the blue every now and then.
I have my asthma review by phone soon so I think I will ask the question.
