As I mentioned elsewhere. Gove is having a bad week in the courts. Yesterday in an unrelated case brought against him, his department was found guilty of suppressing FOI requests without just cause. Gove's no good, very bad, horrible week, down the Strand.

It wasn't all bad. He did get to go to the champions league final, and fly home 'luckily' just before the government changed the re-entry rules...

Illegal - Old Bill get involved, investigate and Priti Patel (when a racist says "I have black friends", she's the one they are referring to) says there's no case to answer and it gets forgotten about.
Unlawful - Michael Gove (who was thrown out of the Smarmy **** Club for excessive smarminess) states he doesn't agree with the judgement and it gets forgotten about.

And was lucky enough, after being pinged by the NHS app, to take part in a pilot so he could take daily tests instead of isolating for 10 days. Superb!

This Government unlawfully handing out contracts to cronies ? I can't believe it

It's about time for a revolution. An idiot cull would be good too.
Are you going to tell Bozza how many users he will lose or shall I?

Looking at some of the poll results over the years on NSC I would guess at less than 30% of the accounts and a significantly smaller percentage of actual users

Yep still struggling there buddy!

Let me simplify it. If the same thing happens in an African country, they call it 'corruption'.

But we don't do corruption here of course. That would never happen.

No surprise there. The sooner we get the independent enquiry into what’s gone on over the past 16 months the better. Just because the vaccination program has gone exceptionally well (run by the NHS) doesn’t excuse the fact that 126,000 people have died, many of them would still be alive if things had been handled differently. I’d love to see this government brought to account and exposed for the deceitful, money grabbing corrupt lot that they are.

But that's why so many people put themselves up to be MP's. Yes, there are a few decent and honourable ones out there, but most are in it for either their influence or what they can get out of it personally (see the expenses scandal) or via their associated business connections (see the current Cummings and Gove situation and many others to boot).

If anyone really thinks the majority of MP's are truly working for the public's benefit then you need your head examined.

If you really believe the majority of MP's are 'really in it for their own benefit', and use this as some sort of justification for what is happening before your eyes, then you definitely need your head examined :dunce:

There are a lot of decent and honourable MP's there from all the Political parties. You do realise there is a whole conservative party outside of this Government ? Maybe you should consider why none of the experienced Conservative Parliamentarians are anywhere near Government at the moment. Of course, it may be a curious coincidence or it may be what Britain demanded at the ballot box ('Toute nation a le gouvernement qu'elle mérite').

I really wouldn't like to suggest which ???

As soon as the referendum showed Boris that there might just be enough people in the UK that don't care about detail, he knew he could get a corrupt government into power and make it stick. He was right.

Illegal means that it is forbidden by a law that has been passed.

Unlawful means that it is not authorised by law because no such law has been passed.

Apparently.

Is it? I don't think it is. However, one would be foolish to think history happens in isolation. This leads to that, that leads to this. Cause and effect. Boris Johnson's government is in power because of Brexit. Boris Johnson's government is corrupt. This thread is about Boris Johnson's corrupt government.

Are you whooshing, or is this just a stupid comment.

It’s about a bunch of crooks doing what is right for them and their mates rather than what is just right.

I think the current state of MPs we have in Government very much is about Brexit.

Not so much Brexit itself but the political reaction to it, the ideological purge. It's left a small pool of minds to choose from.

Compare this current crop to previous Conservative administrations and they are shocking. Imagine if this lot went to war. We appear to have a relatively competent Chancellor but that's about it.

Not helped by the awfulness on the other side.

Both parties a marriage of convenience, both leaders just as worried about upsetting their own as the other side.

Unfortunately, all roads to lead back to this

Once Johnson secured the big lie he was empowered and as long as the British public buy the lies, corruption and increasing authoritarian style of governance will continue

The next few days will be a wake up call for him, he may be getting away with it at home for now but on the International stage among grow ups it won't wash.

What is the difference between unlawful and illegal?

One is unlawful, the other is a sick bird.

This is pathetic. This is about the MCR - Middle Common Room - of one Oxford College, Magdalen. There are three Common Rooms in an Oxford College: the JCR or Junior Common Room which is where the “normal” or postgraduate students would reside. The MCR is postgraduate students - I.e. people doing second or postgraduate degrees. The number of people who voted for this was probably about 4.
Yes, I’m exaggerating slightly, but you would probably be talking about a fairly small number - a handful - many of whom could well be non-English/British, including Americans, for example.
Move on, there’s no story here. It’s laughable.
