[Misc] COVID… again

Woke up this morning feeling like absolute shite - did a test and sure enough, COVID again. My third time despite being triple jabbed. Currently having to isolate from my vulnerable elderly Mum who I’m caring for.

How many times have you had it? Three other mates (ones I haven’t seen in person recently, but have a WhatsApp group with) all have it too, two for the first time. Is there a new strain going around or something?

I've never had it. But I do rather dread the eventuality. I don't know how many jabs I've had. Maybe two. I'm not even sure if I'm supposed to have had another one. I should get it if so.

First time I had it was for 15 days in Feb 2022 from my old mum who got hospitalised and I was lucky enough to test ok the day before she passed, and was therefore able to visit her in hospital. Day two she was out of it and I got the phone call a couple of minutes after I got home. I was lucky, many weren’t able to see their loved ones.
I had it earlier in the year for the second time and it was pretty bad and I lost around 12 pounds, half of which I have put back on, but I still don’t feel as well as I did previously. I do worry that the more often you get it, the harder it is to get back to normal.

I’m sorry for your loss. I definitely agree about not feeling “right” after getting it. I’m a relatively healthy 38 year old, albeit a casual smoker (5-10 a week), and each time I get it, it feels like my body has gotten that bit weaker. Really going to have to finally quit smoking altogether I think.

Never had it, or never known that you have had it? If you're lucky enough to get a mild dose, you might barely notice it.

Never had the vaccine.

Had COVID once during the pandemic, and again shortly after, confirmed with tests. Had bad cold or mild flu symptoms both times.

Suspect I've had it since then, but might have just been bad colds.

Recycled air, stuck in a steel tube, so not so bizarre. I know lots of people who have caught colds, sore throats etc after flying. I’ve flown four times in the last 2 years but wear a mask each time. They were domestic flights.

Having the jab doesn’t stop you getting Covid, it just makes it much milder than otherwise.

Absolutely mental dose in 2020. Coughing for 6 months, lungs nearly packed up, fatigue after a walk. Since then have tested positive twice more, once in 2021 and once in 2022. Stopped testing when you didn’t have to and have hardly been ill of any description since. Weird.

What I find really interesting is how symptoms vary from being absolutely knocked out and feeling like death, to mild cold symptoms, depending on the strain and the person. I’m by no means a vulnerable person, but each time I get it it’s like a sledgehammer.

Physically weak, tight breathing, nausea, sore throat, hacking cough, exhaustion.

The human body is fascinating

I caught it off a customer a in 2022, went to her house to look at a job, rang her the next day with the price and she told me she had Covid and felt unwell for 3 days before I visited.
