Sorry to hear that , especially your poor Mum , we had a similar situation and that can cause more trouble than the Covid . I have had it twice and the better half once , thought it was three just recently but turned out to be a simple 5 day bug thankfully , but there has been talk down here about some new strain , i have no idea if there is any truth in it .

There are new variants of Covid-19 as time passes, the effects lessen as one way or another the population has immunity, over time it becomes another respiratory illness such as influenza.

Mixed actions and results across the continent. Sweden didn’t follow the script. Whilst Spain, Belgium, Italy and former communist nations suffered. EU bureaucracy and a silly snobbery about the Oxford vaccine prevented a prompt immunisation programme.

Dunno mate. That’s your experience, but others have had very different ones. Right now it certainly doesn’t feel like a bug which will last a few days, and the previous times I’ve had it I’ve ended up in bed for weeks and borderline on going to the hospital for want of breathing…

Since covid was such a killer before the vaccines I think it was a legitimate concern that lives were more important than the economic prosperity of millionaires and billionaires. They are back to increasing their wealth. Trump was the idiot who let lives be lost!

I will say Trump was helpful in getting the vaccines developed more quickly once he truly accepted that the covid virus was not going away on it's own.

Never had Covid, I’ve had all the jabs. I’ve never had a flu jab, despite all the reminders (72yrs old). Everyone else in the family have had Covid. I don’t know how I’ve avoided it, I’m out most days, on buses etc.

Had it 4 times I know of. 1st was worst coinciding with the original lockdown, and had after effects for a couple of months recovering which were very unpleasant. Then twice with much less severity, one of those times hardly noticed it at all. Recently caught it again, only knew about it because I tested as my mother in law was visiting and is elderly. It made me miss the Wolves match and I had a week off work, followed by a week on holiday where I felt ruddy awful as well. It took a month for me to feel okay again. My Geordie mate who lives in Tenerife was unsympathetic when I said I had covid 'just a cold' and 'I've never had it'. Two weeks later I texted him and asked how he was, and he said he had Covid and had never felt so ill as he did now. Covid is very variable and if hit badly, it can kill as flu does.

Me, as I still qualify for covid leave and I would rather not spread it around to my family friends and most of all the the kids at my school.

I work in a school with lots of immune compromised children. The extension of covid leave has been extended for such schools as a safety measure.

I would strongly disagree that it is a waste of time and money, given the ease at which many of our students contract viruses and other illness and the hospital treatment that this often entails.

Not jabbed and never had it, same goes for my mum and a fair few mates. If I have a cold I wear a mask, and If I had the flu I stay indoors.

Twice. First time absolutely awful, bed bound for a week with awful fever. Second time didn’t even know I had it - tested because I was visiting an immunocompromised family member and it was positive. Which probably means I’ve had it many more times that I’m unaware of.

I’m sorry for your loss. I definitely agree about not feeling “right” after getting it. I’m a relatively healthy 38 year old, albeit a casual smoker (5-10 a week), and each time I get it, it feels like my body has gotten that bit weaker. Really going to have to finally quit smoking altogether I think.

I smoked from the age of 13 until I got colon cancer 20 years ago in my early 50s. Packing up is more psychological- not easy but I did it and have probably saved my life. Not a day goes by when I don’t miss it, but I know I don’t need it and am grateful to still be here enjoying Albion’s success.

Never had it. Had all the jabs whenever they came up. Used to test when visiting my very sick (now no longer with us) brother).

Was one of the 'Vulnerable Group', so complete isolation in lockdown - friends and family not living nearby, so no permitted 'support group' either. Only 'contact' was at a distance with the Asda delivery driver once a week. TBH the lockdown probably did me more damage than Covid would have done (so long as I wasn't one of the unlucky ones who got it really badly).

Those saying they have never had it. You can't be 100% certain. I had Covid with absolutely no symptoms and only took a test as my wife tested positive.

Had it 4 times.

First was early 2021 likely from London and it was manageable, however since then I've suffered from chronic migraines which I'm now on medication for.

Second time was summer 2022 from a staff Christmas party, felt fine but tested because colleagues were testing positive. Company tried to give me a disciplinary for illness despite the fact I said I was well enough to work and it was their policy that meant I couldn't work with covid.

Third I caught it in Marseille during the European tour, again not bad just cold symptoms for me.

Fourth time was around October and was just a bad cold really.
