Coventry - Trains

Other than getting from Brighton to London is looking a complete nightmare (think might be a case of go to London the night before and find a bar and keep it open), the lovely people at Virgin Trains are not putting any cheap travel on until about 11am.

So if like the GDC you like to get there a wee bit earlier and check out the sites, the cheap way to do this is to go on the Chiltern route from Marleybone to Leamington Spa and then it is a 10 minute train journey from Leamington Spa to Coventry.

A group of 4 people can go from Marleybone to Leamington Spa for a combined cost of £45 (Groupsave), which is £11.25 each and the extension to Coventry is £3.70. So you can essentially do London to Coventry for £15. These tickets I think are available on the day, although I have just sorted them via Chiltern Trains.

I have to say I always have a good day up there. Meet up with a few lads I know from England games and visit a few pubs.

and plenty of time to RUN the Goons on the way back.

If your driving up, be warned....

the parking wardens are ticket-happy in the area around the new ground!! As Wolves fans found out at Christmas.

Best to use one of the official car parks or Tesco's car park (but make sure you buy something to get a till receipt as proof your a customer).

Anyone know how long it takes to get from the station to the Ground, or more importantly back again afterwards.

Coventry Station is probably 3 - 4 miles from the ground and there aren't pubs in Coventry that it is worth taking a trip to the city centre for. I haven't found one in 3 years of living near cov.

If your going by train, Uncle Buck has the right idea. Get 4 for £45 to Leamington. If there are 4 of you, have a beer in Leamington (Similar place in sussex is probably Lewes) and then get a cab to the ground which is chepaer and easier than a £3.70 extention to cov.

Get the same pub to pick you up by Makro which seems to be a quick exit.
